This review is from: The Complete Visible Human: The Complete High-Resolution Male and Female Anatomical Datasets from the Visible Human Project (TM) (CD-ROM)
This shows actual thin slices of the human body. Not unlike slices of roast beef.It may be helpful to a pathology medical student. Does not show actual anatomy of organs, etc. & doesn't explain the physiology of the body. I didn't find it to be useful as an interactive or practical educational tool.

A foundational study for cross-sectional anatomy, October 30, 2010
This review is from: The Complete Visible Human: The Complete High-Resolution Male and Female Anatomical Datasets from the Visible Human Project (TM) (CD-ROM)
As a physician, I have found that cross-sectional anatomy requires a different approach from the tradtional Netter anatomy atlas. Current CT and MRI imaging technologies allow tomographic in variety of planes: transverse, longitudinal and sagital planes. The basic concept of the visible human projects was to do serial transverse cross sections of a human cadaver: one man and one woman. This CD-ROM provides the imaging data of the two cadavers. A book containing these images would be thousands of pages long. This CD-ROM is very useful for physicians and surgeons, who view CT and MRI images - especially for radiologists.
As for the other review, please understand that introductory anatomy texts like Netter or Gray's anatomy are updating their volumes to include vignettes of cross-sectional anatomy, but this volumes provides excellent sources for the hopeful radiologist or surgeon.
