This is probably my all-time favorite book (in particular "How I Used Truth"). Dr. Cady is an astounding spiritual teacher. She gets right to the heart of spirituality and, no doubt, the reader perceives the practical messages of the gosples in her words. Though the early language may be a challenge, it is truly worth the effort. Of all the literature I have read on spirituality, including theological and philosophical discourses, this work is the highest ranking in my book. Why? Cady doe not resort to an appeal to the head, she speaks straight to the heart and spirit, where Truth is found. This is a profoundly life-changing book. If you prefer to remain in you comfort zone, don't read it, but if you wish to discover the truth of your being, Cady is an excellent starting point. However, it is necessary to point out that she is the first one to discourage the reader from attempting to find truth in external sources. Rather, truth is found within ourselves, but sometimes a guide is helpful!

Amazing how the things we think are new are actually quite old. This book appears to be the basis for cognitive restructuring therapy. The writing style is definitely that of the late 19 century and may be dificult for the modern reader. The book had me shaking my head in affirmation throughout. There appears to be a lot of power in her words and spiritual beginners are cautioned (at least unless they can come as children). For those who are working on spiritual growth this may be the last book you need read - Ms. Cady's advise is to "not read the works of others or discuss with others - for the TRUTH is revealed to each of us and is unique to each of us - to continue to seek the TRUTH from others will simply slow the learner" (quote is a liberal paraphrase).

Dr. Cady was already a trailblazer when she begain writing, being one of the first female physicians in NY. This book is a collection of her written work and is an invaluable tool to those seeking a deeper understanding of practical Christianity. Dr. Cady lays the foundation of Jesus' teachings in a clear and concise manner, then invites the reader to heed the Wayshower's call and "Follow me". She explains that Jesus was the great example, not the great exception. We are called to do more than worship Jesus; we are called to be like him and we do so by discovering our own inner Christ. This book gives the reader the roadmap necessary to uncover God's image within and to reaquaint ourselves with the "true" meaning of what Jesus came to share with the world. This book will not leave you the same...you will be changed.

Don't ever loan your copy to anyone, you won't get it back. I loaned mine to my Preacher and he promised me it was in safe hands. Later he offered to buy me another copy. I declined, I wanted my original copy I had purchased in 1982. I even looked in his library myself and wrote him letters over a 4 year period. Realizing it was gone, I finally ordered this copy and felt a wave of relief. This book has 2 other sections besides LESSONS IN TRUTH. I am so glad to have the extended copy, the information just adds to the wonderful content of the single book. I learned what affirmations verses denials means, I prefer the affirmations. I learned what special gifts are. I learned how to meditate and how marvelous that is to one's life and family. I learned what "keep a single eye to Jesus" means and how to apply that to my daily life. I learned a new discipline of thinking, looking into one's self to find God. I had been raised in a treditional church and at first this was a foreign way of thinking. Later, the book became my comfort in every trial I face. I found deep faith and understanding I did not have before I read the book. I've probably read it a dozen times. I never want to be without it again and will NEVER loan it to anyone again. It is just to valuable to me. If I could only take one book and my Dad's homemade clock with me in the event of a disaster, Emilie Cady's book would be it.

I ran into Lessons in Truth many years ago and have kept it through many moves while discarding other books of lesser value. I was delighted to find this Complete Works at a Unity church recently and purchased it. Unfortunately that copy was missing a number of pages and I'm going to get another one here.

Ms. Cady was the real deal, not a spiritual superstar who was in it for the glory and the money. Most of the ideas that you'll find in metaphysical books by that type, you will find here in Ms. Cady's own modest but highly intelligent writing. I return to it time and time again when I need some solid spiritual food.

The language is Christian but don't let that stop you. It is universal in its truth and practical in its application. I highly recommend it.

This book is so highly recommended, I've bought a few copies for others. If you're seeking a true understanding of life that will help you to live to the fullest, to be joyful and at peace, this is IT! This text is written eloquently, yet in simple easy-to-understand language, at times it is poetic. Very very inspirational and a wonderful read. A true classic in every sense of the word.

This book was a gift to myself and one of the best gifts I've ever received. This book to me, is not so much a book as it is a manual for everyday life. It's a book that can be read over and over and can be studied for the rest of ones life. This book is based on Jesus' teachings, but it opens up a whole new way of thinking on who Jesus was and what he came to accomplish. This book has progressed my spiritual growth and still does to this day. I do compare this woman and her teachings to that of Mary Baker Eddy. Emily studied Mary Baker Eddy's books (I did research Emily's background) and that is where she got her ideas and understanding from. Although I know the true source of Emily's teachings is from Christian Science, it's still nice to get a different point of view on it. I recommend this book to the deep spiritual seeker.

A life changing book you will read over and over again. I was hoping for a hard copy but because of the content, took the paperback rather than nothing.

Emilie Cady was a physician in the earlier 1900's but she healed more then physical pain, she used God's principles of good to heal the soul, increase prosperity, and call forth miracles. I am a student of New Thought having read and studied Fox, Dyer, Chopra, Williamson, Maltz, Butterworth and many others, however, I enjoy the straightforward writing style and no nonsense approach that Ms. Cady takes to God's desire for us to experience peace and prosperity. There was a great consciousness of enlightenment that occurred at the turn of the century with the Filmores, Mary Baker Eddy, Emerson, Mesmer and others, Ms. Cady's book captures the purity of that new movement back then which now has become much more mainstream today. It's worth going back to those source books to begin ones spiritual journey.

I wore out one copy of this book. A treasured spiritual book. I absorb more each time I go back and read it again. I picked it up a day ago. Read to reinforce my beliefs. It is a treasure of wisdom. Strengthened my faith. Everyone can find something of value in it!
