This was the best I have read on the subject of prayer. This Minister covered in depth enough thought provoking material to keep me busy for a very long time. I read two chapters at a time and had to think about how much simplicity yet great depth there was in each chapter. This will bring you straight to the heart of real prayer as taught by the Master.

This book will revolutionize your prayer life. It contains all eight of E. M. Bounds' classic books on prayer. I have read "Power Through Prayer" five times and it convicts and motivates me every time. It is a must read for pastors. "The Possibilities of Prayer" is one of the most faith-stretching books I have ever read. Bounds has a way of pressing to the heart the astounding promises made to faith and prayer. Few books have caused me to face the paucity of my own faith as has this one. I am actually still working through this large volume and find it to be a regular source of nourishment for my soul. There is an amazing grasp of Scripture in Bounds' writings and not nearly as much repetition as one might think. Bounds wrote with a fiery pen. If you want to be set aflame to burn in prayer, let this book ignite you.

About 11 years ago God drew me into an greater understanding and deeper practice of prayer than ever before in my life. I inquired concerning some of the leading "Prayer Ministries" around the world and wrote several of them and asked this question: "What are the top 25 best books ever written on prayer?" Six replied. Many of the same books were recommended, but 1st Place and 2nd Place were the same on all 6 lists. Andrew Murray's book: With Christ In The School Of Prayer was either #1 or #2 on each list. E. M. Bounds writings on "prayer" was also either #1 or #2 on each list.
No book, not even Murray's, has ever been written on "prayer" that can hold a candle to The Complete Works of E.M. Bounds on Prayer. In fact, if you read this book (actually 8 little books) and it doesn't revolutionize your prayer life, then you need to re-read it until it does. If you read this book and think that it is "mediocre", that will be more of a statement about you than about this book. Seldom is any book hailed as the unquestioned "Greatest Book" on a particular subject by ALL the specialists on that subject, but this one is. And the experts are right. So bless yourself or someone today and buy this book. Then get ready for the revolution! God bless. Mike

This book is phenomenal! Bounds, in eloquent prose, demonstrates how essential prayer is to the believer. I have grown so much in my spiritual walk with God because of this book. If you want to get hold of God, read this book and learn how. It is absolutely vital!

In my desire to enrich my prayer time and pray more effectively I was disappointed with the selection of books available until I came across this one.

Within moments of beginning the book I literally could not put it down and was so impressed with the wealth of insight and biblical references to back to guidance to a more effective prayer life.

You will not be sorry with this choice and I would highly recommend it to Christians in all levels of maturity in faith.

This book has been a wonderful inspiration to me. It sparked me to really place emphasis and give much effort to praying. Prayer is essential to knowing God and being fruitful. So we must pray whether we are good at it or not. Whether we feel inspired or not. For "men ought always to pray and not to faint." So I pray and one thing I ask is that He would breathe on my weak prayer life and cause me to become a real praying man.

Also, this collection is superior to the Harold Chadwick edited collection. That version alters Bounds writing too much. I compared the first chapter of the two and there were significant alterations that changed the meaning of some thoughts. (This version also claims to have modernized the language but, thankfully, I don't think much was changed.)

Its one of those books that you could close your eyes, flip it open to any page, run your finger down the page to any point, open your eyes and it'll be a quote that you want to put in your sermon on prayer. Get it. Read it...daily.

A few years ago I read the individual titles and were greatly blessed by them and have periodically referred to them when needing encouragement to pray.

While the one book can be intimidating, remember that the title is actually composed of 8 smaller books containing about 100 pages each. Read this book like you would eat an elephant - one bite at a time!

While I enjoyed and learned much from reading all the titles, two in particular stood out:

1. Power Through Prayer - the importance of prayer in the
pastor's life.
2. Prayer and Praying Men - lessons on prayer from the
lives of men in the Bible.

Each of the eight titles will challenge you to have a better prayer life. Since Bounds was a Confederate chaplain in the Civil War, the writing from that time has been updated to better reflect today's language. However, the titles are not for the person who is looking for a quick and easy read in today's impatient times. You will be challenged to think and reflect on what you have read!

Read and enjoy. Highly recommended!

There is NO BOOK any more inspiring for a Christian than this book, period. Most people have never heard of this book. Very unfortunate.

The book itself is not magic. What it does is remind us that we ought to be praying (without ceasing). Why would anyone be motivated to do that, when there are hundreds of other things to do in life? Read the book and find out.

EM Bounds must have been very close to the LORD, based upon what he has written. Another great bio is that of George Muller.

If your prayer life needs a kick start, PLEASE READ THIS BOOK. It is over 500 pages, but is made up of several distinct books. You will be blessed.

This, no doubt, is one of the best works on prayer in the English language, if not the best. A book to be read slowly, quietly and with much concentration. Every line has good rich teaching for us all. Thanks to Baker Book House for compiling this complete printing.
