There are so many great elements to books in this series - I love how closely and clearly linked the reading and writing units are; that the authors include a list of anchor texts for each unit to address that always present question from teachers about which books to order, use, etc.; that there are sample charts and sample pieces of student work throughout to spotlight the real-life classroom work that occurs. I will certainly recommend this series to the teachers and administrators with whom I work.

I found this book extremely vague in it's design and detail. They mention a complete year in writing but I don't see all the elements of writing covered at all (I was looking for a book to help with writer's workshop). There is nothing here to help you start teaching nor a plan on how to build on top, it is a one page basic outline on each page and I am left thinking are you kidding? I paid for your lack of detail and incoherency. They really need to take the time to focus on the curriculum needs because this book does not meet them all by any means or at least where I come from. Was very disappointed, still searching for a good, reasonably priced book for teaching writing for the year to grade 1's

This product is good to assist in planning year round. For a new teacher this is a great tool and for an experienced teacher this is a great resource to update your instruction.
