The Complete Year in Reading and Writing: Grade 2 is an inspiring book! We love the authors' writing voices that seem to be talking us through the lessons. The balance in the units feels right and oh-so authentic for our young readers and writers!

We like the texts for so many reasons:

*The units have such a practical and developmental flow to them that it is easy to follow along.

*The structure/format of the book is helpful when discussing the units at team meetings and when creating mini-lessons.

*We greatly appreciate having the goal and objectives for the lessons. Our job just got a lot easier, especially since we agree with them.

*We are finding the Spotlight units that are scripted for us to be very helpful.

*Another huge plus has been the consideration of state standards when writing the units.

Anyone teaching reading and writing should have these texts by their sides. *I think middle school teachers would love to have a continuum of well-balanced curriulum like this, too.

The Complete Year series is a wonderful, rich, and empowering resource for teachers. The series provides just the support and structure you need with the flexibility you have always wanted. I watched my friends and colleagues use the lessons with such success and I have seen the joy for reading and writing that the lessons bring to so many students. I highly recommend these books for all K-5 teachers and administrators.

A great guide for integrating reading and writing units throughout the year. A few chapters have the lesson plans; most have the goals for the unit and picture books to support the immersion. Inquiry based.

When your wife talks - you so often listen ( or should!) My wife has been working with this series for the past year. She uses this resource in her work with classroom teachers and administrators in her capacity as a literacy consultant.

Rarely have I heard her rave so about curriulum and how she is presenting this most relevant information to teachers. Yet this is just what she is doing. She speaks of the "user friendly format" as well as the wealth of information teachers find at thier fingertips. This resource can be used as such or as a program for teachers who are so inclined.

According to my wife, Janice, being a strong and dedicated teacher just became all the more feasible. Learning, too, has become more fun and relevant for children.

This book is a must for any teacher as well as any administrator who wants to "lead the charge".
