My parents have their own copy of this and theirs is falling apart from use. Since this book helped us a lot, I bought this for my friend who is in desperate need of the contents in the book. I aim to purchase this book for myself in the near future.

I'm so happy to have this book I refer to it all the time. It has made me a lot smarter about the food and vitamins I put in my body.
Everyone should have a copy of this book in their houses.

I found this huge book at a secondhand bookshop and thought it might be worth a couple of bucks. And it was, ... just. The book does a nice review of what the body's major nutrients (vitamins, minerals) are and why they are important. Better still, it also outlines the major food sources containing these nutrients. However much of this information is readily available online, and I found the book a bit too aggressive in giving examples of what happens when one doesn't get enough of a nutrient. Although surely not the intention of the authors, it seemed all like a scare tactic into getting folks to either buy supplements or, preferably, eat their fruits and veggies.

Bottom line: although this book is very dated it still offers some value. Yet there are certainly better books on the topic.
