5.0 out of 5 stars Art Takes on Pulp Fiction ...and More, August 13, 2010
By
This review is from: Completely Stripped (Paperback)
Bruno Gmünder Verlag GmbH continues to produce a feast of book that broadens the audience for art from the elegant to the raunchy/raw. For the past four years the publishing house has taken on the task of collecting art from many artists whose topic includes the male - STRIPPED, STRIPPED - UNCENSORED, and now COMPLETELY STRIPPED. It is a book published in the paperback format and though is some 600 pages long it seems like a pup fiction format - until you look inside. The artists of this book range from those who deal with the comic trip form to those who paint genteel elegiac subjects. For every page of hardcore raunchy fun there are equal pages of really fine classical, impressionist, and expressionist works and it all flows together in a manner that makes this book a pleasure to peruse.

In a collection such as this it is difficult to single out certain artists form the others, but in addition to artists' names that may not be familiar either from lack of previous exposure or because they use a nom de plume, here are many images by such very famous artists as Steve Walker, Wes Hempel, Jack Balas, E. Gibbons, Miguel Angel Reyes, Tai Lin, James Childs, Ross Watson, Victor Gadino, and Michael Breyette as well as names that seem sure to become better known such as James Huctwith among many others. The subject matter varies from page to page but the overall message is that here is art about gay men celebrating themselves in every conceivable way. If there is a flaw in this book it is in the color reproduction: Bruno Gmünder Verlag GmbH is usually very concise in paying attention to the quality of color reproduction in all of their books: here it seems that element is less important than the fun the book offers to the readers! 4.0 out of 5 stars Repetitive of Earlier Books Contents, August 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Completely Stripped (Paperback)
Basically a reprint of the contents of the earlier books by the same author and publisher "Stripped" and "Stripped Uncensored". By my quick check 99% of the contents are identical between the earlier books and this one.

If you can find the earlier books used at a good price get them. The copies of both the earlier ones that I got were hardcover bound, an advantage in my opinion.
