High Tech Noise Reduction EarphonesComply High Tech Noise Reduction earphones NR-10 I bought these on a recommendation through the Washington Post travel section. They praised the noise reduction capability when used on planes as well as the overall sound quality and fit. I almost balked at the price (I guess I'm a bit of a cheapskate) but once I tried them I was impressed and pleased. I listen to audiobooks often but the Metro train noise forced me to put the volume too high on regular earbuds. These earphones allow me to keep the volume levels at a normal range in noisy situations. They are very comfortable that I'm tempted to use them always but I can't hear people trying to get my attention so they aren't appropriate for all situations. August 26, 2008 I'm revising my review since I've finally used them during air travel. I normally use soft earplugs whenever I fly since the noise levels are harmful to me (my ears ring badly for days afterwards). While the earphones were not as effective as plain earplugs for deadening the ambient sound (engine roar), they are effective enough that I could listen to an audiobook without having to raise the volume level to an inappropriate level. Overall, I'm still pleased with these headphones and would certainly buy them again.

I've been using these for months now and really like them. I've tried other in-ear products and could never get a tight fit that was comfortable The combination of foam with a smooth coating makes these easy to insert, comfortable to wear, and effective in blocking outside sound. I use these on the Washington DC Metro almost daily, and find them very effective in keeping out the background noise (ventilation fans, whir and squeak of the wheels, etc., allowing you to listen to music without cranking up the volume. I like these so much I've switched over from active cancellation headphones to these.[...]

If you ride and wear a full face helmet I highly recommend this product. I have used it a bunch of times now and I cant imagine how I ever rode without them. The sound quality is great and the noise reduction is amazing,

I had been looking for something to listen to podcasts/recorded radio shows etc while mowing my lawn. I was going to buy one of those Peltor hearing protection/radio/mp3 headsets and plug it into my mp3 player. When I happened to stumble into these. I have to say I am VERY impressed. I even retrofitted them and now they work even better. I punched holes in a set of good cheap earplugs I have with a leather punch and screwed them into these earbuds. The noise cancellation is amazing when mowing the lawn. However the volume was pretty low and hard to hear so I got "MP3 Gain" software and increased the volume with that.

These are the first earphones I have used that I can listen to music without having the volume up so high to drown out the wind noise. They have better noise reduction then the disposable ear plugs I use for everday riding.

I have one pair and am now buying a second for my wife. They are light, easy to carry with me, block external sound amazingly well and I prefer the sound to that of my Bose noise-reducing headset. The foam earpiece takes a minute to set up, so if I expect to need to remove and don the earphones frequently, I'll use the Bose, but for most situations prefer the Comply.

I have had these for a few months now, so here's my take:I bought these mainly for the sound isolation and I have to say that the foam tips do their job well. I found the slimmer foam tip to be more comfortable. The thicker one seems to absorb extra moisture (especially when I work out) and gets all spongy, to the point that it almost falls out on its own. The thinner tip sits in place firmly, delivering a good, broad range of sound. I can compare these to a pair of V-Moda buds which are more expensive and rated for more bass. I noticed that because the Comply buds isolate background noise so well, you really don't need the extra bass thumping away in your ears. I think that these actually deliver a clearer sound, which ends up being more enjoyable to listen to, but if it's the extreme bass you want, look elsewhere. I can also say that the Comply buds are much more comfortable when compared to a pair of Etymotic Research buds, which retail for about $120 or so. The tips on the ERs and the sound they delivered were very disappointing. That's why I think that the Comply buds offer an overall good deal for the money. I use these mainly at the gym, and they stay firmly in place. The only (major) complaint is that mine came with off-white foam tips. Since these will sit deep in your ear canal, they will get dirty quickly. I suggest that you purchase a pack of black tips from the Comply website and forget the off-white tips.

These little gems are so awesome! I work as a court transcriber and we have constant chatter going on in our office. It's a good thing we all get along, but unfortunately our gabbing interferes with others working. I used my headphones for the first time today and one of my co-workers said, "Is that why you haven't been answering my questions?" I have just ordered a bunch of them for the other girls in my office. This is the best invention ever! The earbuds themselves are similar to earplugs that mold to the inside of your ear. They don't fall out constantly like the other rubber-ended and plastic ones do. Forget the Apple iPod earphones, these beat all!

Fails after one year,

I hate to give a negative review, but the headphones break after one year. I bought one in 2010, it lasted 12 months before one of the channels died (only got sound on one ear). Bought another, and just broke again, about after a year.Just not worth the price for the quality of components. The actual phones, while they work, are excellent at sound suppression and fit very well. Apparantly this company only gives a 30 day warranty, another warning sign. |
