4.0 out of 5 stars It gets the job done
If you have an HD TV, get these cables. It cleans up the color quality and you'll be playing games in 480p. Without this cable, games tend to look dark on HD TVs. This cable brightens things up a bit. Don't expect XBOX 360 video quality because the Wii does not support HD. Wii games are not formatted to run on HD. Another thing. At first, I had a bit of a hard time...

3.0 out of 5 stars Functionally good but poorly designed
While the cable works perfectly, the design is lacking. Each of the five component cables branch off from a single hub about six inches up the cable. This means that your video inputs and audio inputs can't be more than about a foot away from one another. This is perfectly fine if all five cables are going into the same device, but if you run your audio through an...

This cable brightens things up a bit. Don't expect XBOX 360 video quality because the Wii does not support HD. Wii games are not formatted to run on HD. Another thing. At first, I had a bit of a hard time inserting the cable in the Wii. It was a tight fit, so be careful not to damage your Wii's cable input. As you insert the cable, gently wiggle your way in. Do the same when removing the cable. Usually goes in or out easily if you do that.

I was hesitant to purchase this because of the lack of reviews, but the seller is well rated and the product works fine. Notably, the image on my hdtv appears to be crisper. Just wish the WII itself was HD!

This means that your video inputs and audio inputs can't be more than about a foot away from one another. This is perfectly fine if all five cables are going into the same device, but if you run your audio through an external receiver you may find that one foot isn't enough cable to reach between your television and stereo.

Something not mentioned in the reviews was that when viewing Netflix through the Wii, the movie is brighter than with the old cable. Previously, some movies were so dark you couldn't see them.

It was nice to be able to free up the RCA plug-ins on the back of my TV. Seems to be of good quality and works as advertised. And cheap, too!

No issues. Works. Noticeable improvement in image quality. Didn't pay attention to the exact length, but it's somewhere between 4 to 5 feet long. With shipping and handling, still less than the other listings. Made by Nintendo--can't go wrong. Recommended.

The cables work great! Was a little leary when the price of the cables were only $3 but thought I woud give them a try. Glad I did! I wasn't looking for any improved video or sound, just wanted to connect my WII up to the new TV. Product arrived at my house in 7 days just as promised; just a quick plug in and was up and running.

To spare a long drawn out review that I can tend to do at times, I'll keep this one relatively short. After all, it's a frackin cable!...

The item arrived earlier than I was expecting and looked as if it were actually made by Nintendo themselves. I needed it to free up my RCA port on my TV for older game systems that I wanted to run from the back of the room with a switcher box. But I like having the Wii up by the TV (mainly for the sensor bar and my lack of wanting a wireless one, plus it's not a space hog).

To be totally honest, I don't see much of a difference in the picture quality, minor if at all (remember, the Wii is not an HD system). But again, new TV's simply do not provide RCA ports like the old Tube TV's did. So if you want to keep that single port open for the occasional item that needs to be plugged in, like a camcorder of something. Or if you want to have an extra Wii cable lying around for when you bring it to a friends (no more untangling the connected one). Than get this cable.

It's cheap, works, and even if it's not that noticeable, cleans up the image enough to justify $5. I would never pay Nintendo the $30 they are asking though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Component cables boost picture quality!, November 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Component AV Cable for Nintendo Wii to HDTV (Video Game)
I was surprised at how dramatically these component cables boosted the picture quality on my HDTV! I originally had the Wii hooked up to an old standard-def "tube TV" using the original RCA cables (yellow for video signal, red+white for stereo audio). When I got the HDTV, however, the image quality left a lot to be desired. So, I ordered these component cables since they were so cheap and have been very pleased with the results! Colors are definitely more saturated and rich, yet don't look overly contrasty or blown out. The resolution for on-screen text looks AMAZING too -- small text pops and is easy to read. My Nintendo Wii is used as a Netflix streaming platform 90% of the time, and the picture quality is greatly improved using these component cables. Details such as subtle shadowing, textures, and even individual hairs on people's heads are brought out on streamed content; such detail was lost using the original RCA cables included with the Wii. I recommend these component cables to anyone using a Nintendo Wii with an HDTV!

These cables up the resolution on your Wii from standard to 480p. No need to spend more on expensive cables - these do the job just fine. Highly recommended.
