I bought this for use with my Wii. I have a DVI Computer monitor I use as an HDTV and I can only use HDMI for plugging in Devices, so the Wii's Component wouldn't work for me. I'm currently using this at 480p. Works like a charm. There is no lag in the picture. And it seems like it doesn't loose any quality as well. Anyone interested in getting a Component to HDMI converter should go with this one. I've shopped around and most converters are between 2-3 times as expensive.

I bought this converter to be able to record PS3 720p component footage with the Hauppage HD PVR (which can't record 1080p component, nor HDMI; it can record 1080i though but I like 720p better)
My setup is the folowing: component to PVR, component to converter input with the PVR loop (extra, good quality component cables supplied with PVR) and HDMI output to my PC screen with HDMI input.
I must say I am impressed with the quality, as I can't see any difference with my previous HDMI setup.

What IS noticable on my (FULL-HD) 22 inch pc screen are some black lines at the top when using 480i, 576i and 1080i output. These lines do not show up when using 720p/1080p, so they shouldn't show up when using 480p either.
As the wii supports 480p, (and I think the PS2/GC do too), and the X360 and PS3 support 720p/1080p, IF these lines show up they are easily worked around by changing resolution.

One more note, this device has a little output switch that changes the LED from blue to red light, upon reading other reviews this seems to have something to do with HDMI handshaking and it's best to leave the switch on blue.

All in all I think this is a great quality product, it seems quite rigid and it shoud last quite a while. The output is much better than I expected.

For the price, you can't beat this. I am successfully converting my XBOX 360 component video/optical audio signal to HDMI with this device.

My husband and I read all of the reviews for this product and decided to order this for our brand new LED 2D/3D LG 55" TV. Our first generation XBOX 360 (which our kids use still today) did NOT have HDMI connector needed for the new TV. We looked in many places for a "component" to HDMI converter (which is what we need to connect the Xbox to the TV) and the prices were ridiculously high ($150-$200+). We got this one (based on the reviews) but ALSO ordered the "Amazon Basics Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable, 6 Feet ($5.50) since we read that the box ONLY transferred the video but NOT the audio. My husband connected the Digital Optical Audio cable to the back of the XBOX (no need to connect the component audio cables from the xbox to the converter box) and also connected the video cables to the back of the converter and it worked AMAZING! It was painless and a "piece of cake". We highly recommend this product. Our kids are excited to be able to use the XBOX now with the TV and the video is crisp and beautiful. We give this product 5 Stars for the price and quality!

NOTE: If you do NOT order the audio cable (which does not come with the converter), you will not get sound on your TV. You will ONLY get the XBOX 360 video.

Here is the link to the audio cable we also purchased with the box (separately from the converter box) - well worth the extra $5.50!

I bought this product because I have an older xbox 360 that doesn't have HDMI and I just bought a great Samsung LED tv that has mostly HDMI inputs. This product works great but I just wanted to let anyone know who is thinking about doing the same thing for their older xbox to also purchase an optical cable. This doesn't convert analog to digital, however on the back of the xbox there is an optical cable adapter that you can plug into this to also give you sound. If you don't get the optical cable, you will only get the picture. So my recommendation is to purchase this item, just don't forget the optical cable.

converts component to hdmi without a problem. Allows you to add digital audio to the video to send true HDMI to HDTV.

I bought it from the recommendation of one of the other reviewers, who said it worked with their Wii -- not sure what Wii they were talking about. I bought it to convert the Component signal to an HDMI signal for ym Samsung flatscreen... since there's a woeful delay when using the regular A/V connection with my TV or any digital TV for that matter with a Wii.

This device certainly does not work with my Wii. When I have everything set up, my TV says something to the effect of "Format Not Recognized" by my TV. I have numerous other HDMI devices connected to my TV... my XBox 360, my Blu-Ray player and my cable box... all through HDMI, and they all work, but not this device.

I sent the vendor an e-mail asking for help/support... perhaps I was doing something wrong, because another reviewer (assuming it's a valid reviewer and not an employee of the vendor) got it to work with their Wii. But I got no response that was a few weeks ago.

Just read about the negative reviews this seller gets from customers. I might have gotten a defective unit -- in that case, I'm screwed, because the negative reviews of the seller don't look promising for me. The shipping would cost a ton to return it, and I would only get a partial refund. I'll try to return it, and see what that gets me.

UPDATE - 2010-05-24:
Just sent it in to get it replaced with a new unit that will hopefully work. Haven't tested the new unit yet, but will post when I determine that.
It cost me $10.95 to send back the old one, and didn't get reimbursed for that. I think I should, because it's not my fault if I get one that doesn't work in the first place.
