This was one of the first jazz CD's I ever bought and I still love it! Walton is in top form here. Christian McBride and Roy Hargrove appear in the sextet. Hargrove's trumpet is top notch. Sit back and enjoy!

Jimmy Cobb said that ''Kind of blue'' must have been made in heaven.Same here.
Cedar Walton completed stellar sextet, wrote some beautiful themes, arranged the
session,Astor Place produced the masterpiece.Roy Hargrove solos are gems, lyrical
but muscle.Ralph Moore and Vincent Herring are marvelous ,they play at the height
of their powers.Christian McBride was lucky enough to be on this session, and on
Frank Foster's ''Leo rising'' same year, two greatest cds of his sideman's career.Virtuoso
bassist wrote respectful and touching liner notes, too.Victor Lewis is incredible
druumer, his sense of rhythm is out of this world .Cedar Walton is one of the most spectacular
composer and pianist in jazz history. All nine compositions are too good to be true, but
''Minor controversy'' is pure bliss ,seven minutes of jazz heaven.
