5.0 out of 5 stars Milestone recordings that preserve the musical memory for the new generations to come, May 7, 2009
This review is from: Composers in Person Box Set (22 CDs) (Audio CD)

The serie "Composers in person" is probably until this date, the biggest and ambitious historical compilation; it's to say the greatest musical achievement ever made in order to preserve the memory and the approach given by the composers playing their own works. Despite of the fact of so many glorious musical findings you will find out here there are memorable highlights that well deserve to make mention.

First at all, the presence of Shostakovich playing his two piano concertos under the baton of Andre Cluytens as well as other preludes. Besides, the renowned Prokoviev playing his supreme battle horse piano concerto No. 3 in 1929. But there's still more: Enrique Granados. Hans Pfitzner, Darius Milhaud, Oliver Messiaen, Kachaturian, Hindemith, Poulenc or Villalobos playing or conducting make to feel us we are in another mood and level.

Finally, taking into account the colossal bargain of twenty two albums by less than $75 you should not hesitate just for a moment.
