CONFIRMED... WILL NOT WORK WITH iPod Touch and OS/Firmware 3.0 DO NOT BUY.

Connected to TV, video played for about 5 seconds (And Looked GREAT!). Then a popup message on the Touch "this accessory not supported". No more video on the TV. Video starts to play on Touch, audio continues on the TV.

My iPod Touch 2nd Gen and 0S 3.0 do not appear to play well with this cable.

Though, looked great for the 5 seconds it took the device to decide.

UPDATE:
Clearly this product is will not work with OS/Firmware 3.0 Apples seems to have blocked this accessory. From what I can find, Apple uses a "chip" to verify acceptable accessories (ie theirs or licensed vendors). Not sure if this is completely true. Seems the best solution is to buy Apple brand at 4x the price of this.

I'm giving this 3 stars because it worked with system 2.21, but when I updated to OS 3.0 I received the message that 'this adapter is not made for iphone yadda yadda yadda ...' and it no longer worked. The manufacturer of this cable isn't to blame, but Apple's proprietary police are who render 3rd party accessories useless with each software update so you'll have to buy theirs for 4 times the cost. It obviously doesn't cost that much to manufacture such a cable if another company can sell it for a quarter of the price, so it's another case of Apple fleecing it's loyal customer base. So continues my love/hate relationship with Apple.

As soon as you upgrade to 3.0 , you get the "This accessory is not supported message" when attempting to play video.

Update** - I downgraded my Ipod back to 2.2.1 and this cable works again. **

This cable will work with almost any iPod Touch and iPhone only, and I repeat, only if your device is jailbroken. Then you get resupported or resupported4 from Cydia and you can use this with any TV. You can also get Display Out from Cydia and you be able to see your device on the TV. Any app, game, video, and picture will be shown on the TV. Once again, this will only work with IOS 3.0+ if you are jailbroken. The title clearly states "WORKS WITH 2.2.1" which means it won't work with anything higher if you are not jailbroken. This is an excellent product and works extremely well with my iPod Touch 2G running on 4.2.1 jailbroken.

This product does not work with the OS 3.0. It looks like this was a deliberate move on the part of Apple. You will see it work for about 5 seconds followed by a "this is an unauthorized device" warning followed by a blank screen.

Due to so many negative reviews, I was frustrated to buy and get the perfect AV cable for my ipod touch 2g. But this one works perfectly. I,m able to watch my movies on my TV. Go for it you 'll be satisfied.

Vendors are selling this cable set to unsuspecting people. This Item needs to have a desclaimer attached. Apple disabled the ablity of ALL 3rd Generation products to use third party cable sets to view video from the "TV OUT" option. This was accomplished with the last automatic UPGRADE of your 3rd Gen Apple product. WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE. This of course has already been done so if you want to view video from your Ipod 3rd Gen on a TV your ONLY recourse is to purchase Apple's Composite AV + USB cable set for approx. $50.00.
Trust me. I am a cheapskate. I tried everyway possible to get around the Apple cable set. The only way around is not to buy it.
BTW I bought one of these third party cable sets thinking Apple could not have done such a thing to its consumers. Guess What. They did.

BEWARE.

Great product - allows me to watch videos stored on my iPhone, and lets me stream YouTube videos to the screen. Works great in my Honda Odyssey minivan which comes with an Aux input but would work with any TV with an AV input.
Product feels like good quality too. Glad I purchased, it's exactly what I wanted and MUCH cheaper than the apple version.

I just got this today, and it doesn't work with my IPod 2G with 3.0 software. Totally lame.

I got this for my 6th gen 160g Ipod Classic, and it works perfect! The USB is a nice addition as I can charge it on my laptop while watching a movie on it through the TV. So much cheaper than the stuff Apple sells, don't waste your money, this will work!
