Good first effort,

I saw this band live at the warped tour this summer in Quebec City and Montreal and I must say these guys rock. When I listened to the album, there were probably 3-4 songs that were catchy enough but the rest seemed more like fillers, they sounded all the same and needed some more work to be honest. It's easy to see the Jimmy Eat World influence on these guys with the song "It's Happening" which is my favorite song on the album. I possess this cd and I found it not that bad, not that great... But eh this is their first album and they are young so they'll probably be better on the second album if there ever is one. You might like to listen to "Jimmy Eat World - Clarity", "Waking Ashland - I Am For You", "Copeland - Beneath Medicine Tree" if you liked this album.

Beautiful from beginning to end...,

This is will be one of my favorite albums for the long haul. The vocals are so very smooth and vulnerable (not like the over processed vocals present in todays top 40 music). The melodies flow together like a canvas filled with vibrant colors, like the review above said "The songs flow together so smoothly almost like a story".
I especially like the use of synths, strings, and that fat B3 organ. Definitely comparable to both Jimmy Eat World's "Clarity" album and Copeland's "Beneath Medicine Tree" album. Highly recommended!!!

Takes the warmth from my blood....,

Compromises is one example of album that you can play from track 1 to the very end. The songs flow together so smoothly almost like a story. Furthermore, NOF is unlike most emo/indie groups today. Their music contains so much emotion, expressed through Nick's angelic vocals, Jon's powerful drums, and not to mention Mike & Matt's clever, intricate guitars. I can honestly say that these songs are so amazing, they have the power to give you goosebumps and take the warmth from your blood. Do yourself a favor and pick this album up... it wont leave your cd player!
"I love the way she moved. This all may change inside the bedroom. Lets wait for nerves to dim. This has to be the prettiest sin"
