This is the third book I've read by Jenna-Bayley Burke and I think this is my favorite so far! It's hard to tell though, because I've enjoyed everything I've read by her. What I think she excels at is mixing the lust, romance and love all together and making it work! This is the story of Sophie and David. Sophie is a cute girl who seems to think never of herself but only those around her. David is a strong man, quite successful but definitely scarred by some events in his past. He is a tall man who has a rule of dating only women who are at least 5'10" and have blonde hair. He NEVER stays over, and NEVER goes for round two. Sophie is a tiny yoga instructor and also the sister of Daphne, David's best friend, Craig's wife. Daphne has long despised David for his womanizing ways. Sophie has had a crush on David for as long as Daphne and Craig have been together. She is a 26 year old virgin, just waiting for David to come along. They get together quite by accident--Daphne is pregnant and having a difficult pregnancy and must be on bed rest. Normally she and her husband, Craig, teach the yoga class that helps intrepret the Kuma Sutra to committed couples. Exit Daphne and Craig for the class, enter Sophie and David. Right from the get go David is attracted to Sophie even though she doesn't fit into his rules. From the very beginning of the story there is constant contact with Sophie and David. Even though Sophie is terrified of having her heart broken, and David is terrified of letting someone in who throws his carefully planned life in a whirlwind they do work together to be together. It's a great story of friendship, of sibling love and of misguided parental love. If you've never read anything by Jenna this would be the perfect book for you to start with! And I'm sure, if you're like me, you'll want to read everything by her. As this is a Samhain published book there is a bit more spice to it than most contemporary love stories, but make no mistake this is a tastefully written story of deep love and emotional committment.

I enjoyed this story from start to finish. It had a cute premise and hooked me into the story immediately. But the good part was that it just kept getting better. This author is fast becoming one of my favorites!

I was totally expecting just a fluff romance but this was a great story as well. I just couldn't seem to put it down and read it in one day. I would definitely recommend this book to friends.

"Compromising Positions" is stimulating and provocative in content the style of writing is a cut above the rest. I found the story sweet and refreshing; David and Sophia are nicely rounded characters, well-defined as to their motivations, and through the novel they undergo changes as they reconcile their beliefs. I found the plot and back-up characters original and entertaining. It was indeed a pleasure to read it.

So I'm a sucker for a cute steamy romance as much as the next gal (especially when it's a free Kindle download!), but I need at least a passable plot line to go along with the sex scenes. I kept hoping for the mystery to be compelling and interesting, but when the final confessions and motivations were had, all I could think was "I read this whole thing... for THAT??"

I did like the Kama Sutra informational sessions, and the characters were kind of cute which is why this gets three stars.

So, it was a cute story, but not on my "must read again" list.

I came upon this book by accident and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It had quite a few twists and turns and that made it all the more enjoyable.

The above statement was my first "review" of this book. Having re-read it now two more times I realize I really didn't do it any justice. This book is honestly one of my favorite romance books of all times. I love the interaction of David and Sophie and how their relationship develops. It is not an "easy" romance, it takes time and lots of patience on both of their parts to make it work. That's what makes this story seem so real. David had so many issues to deal with making it hard for him to even consider a long term relationship. Sophie has a "crush" on David for so many years and when she found out he was so very different that what she expected she wasn't quite sure what to do with him. Add to that David's screwed up relationship with his father and step mother and Sophie's relationship with her sister and brother in law and it really is a wonder they worked through it all. I truly loved so many scenes in this book but my favorite was when Sophie shows up in the "hooker boots" at David's house and finds him watching a [...]flick in his bedroom but she's more fascinated with the tv that pops up from the bed than the [...]. Too funny! Great book from a terrific author. Highly recommend this one!

I really didn't expect much from this book when I got it cos it was free. So I went in not expecting much and I was really pleasantly surprised. The relationship between the main characters was really believable and soo sweet. I was totally hooked from start to finish. The cover was what drew me in because it looked like a fun, light hearted read and it really was. I'll definitely be on the look out for any other books by this author.

Sophie Delphino may be young and sexually inexperienced, but after spending so much of her life taking care of infirm parents, stepping in for her sister as a possible birth surrogate, then again when her sister's high risk pregnancy forced her to step down as the manager of the health club that she and Sophie co-own, she's more than experienced in doing what needs to be done with no complaint. In fact, Sophie has a history of sacrificing for others. When it comes to David Strong, however, Sophie refuses to sacrifice. She focuses her considerable will and irrepressible personality on David, the star of her sexual fantasies for a decade, and when the fantasy of David becomes the reality of a good man, she realizes that only by being true to her own needs will they have a chance for happiness together.

A spunky, determined heroine and a flawed, slightly damaged but generous hero are the prime components of this charming and fun contemporary romance. Bayley-Burke has created two characters who complement each other in and out of the bedroom, and with a smooth narrative and witty dialog ripe with playful banter, offers up a touching and triumphant romance.

I wasn't totally sold with lady's man David at first, whose rigid dating rules and lifetime goals and plans seemed a little too shallow and pretentious for my tastes at first, but as his true character was revealed and his past uncovered, he becomes more and more sympathetic a character and more endearing for it. Sophie, on the other hand, started out as endearing and became a strong, independent character with her wide-eyed enthusiasm, her honesty, and her selflessness. She was under-appreciated by her family for her repeated sacrifices, and I wasn't at all fond of her sister or brother-in-law because of it, but it was so refreshing to have a female lead in a contemporary romance that I liked at all, let alone one I liked as much as I did Sophie. It's been awhile since I could make that claim.

I had a couple of issues with the story, but no real problems, and most of those issues are preference-based. I would've truly enjoyed Sophie's brother-in-law getting a bit of a comeuppance for his casual disregard of all the ways Sophie has assisted him and her sister over the years - almost every aspect of his life had her helping hands on it and his sense of entitlement and ambivalence about her sacrifices seemed disrespectful and a little reprehensible - especially as he's taken credit at work for things she's done. I wish there had been a moment where David and he went toe to toe on that and called him on it in a more detailed fashion than the one scene that sort of brushed over some of that.

I thought there were some transitional issues at a couple of points in the plot, where the story went a bit too quickly from lighthearted romp in tone to far more serious in nature then back again, with things such as embezzlement, robbery, and vasectomies interspersed with humor and sizzling sexuality. I enjoyed both aspects of the plot, and definitely appreciated how much of David's character was explained as the story progressed within the parameters of so many points of that plot, but the transitions seemed a little abrupt for my tastes at times.

There just isn't much else I felt critical of in this delightful romance. It's definitely one of the most entertaining contemporary romances I've read lately, and I want to give special kudos to Bayley-Burke for one of the most romantic and emotional conclusions I've read in a good long while. I felt for these characters, and always appreciate an author who can engage my emotions for their characters. I'll definitely be checking out more titles by Bayley-Burke and look forward to reading more of her work.

I cared about the characters and actually laughed out loud a couple of times during their interactions. Fun banter and it was a great, escapist story. Not sure all the machinations of various family members were entirely necessary (though it did give the self-absorbed sister more depth), but, hey, that made the book longer and I enjoyed her voice so much, that's fine. And now I'll actually go buy one of her books. (I got the Kindle freebie version.)

I loved this book! I really enjoyed the interactions between the main characters, and the writer did an amazing job with the sexual tension. There was still plenty of sweet moments and momentum to the book, coupled with some hot moments that still left you wanting more. It was the perfect combination to propel you to the end of the book. I was sad that it was over. Very quick and light read!
