4.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding!, July 1, 2007

Desiree "Desiree" (Seattle, Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Compulsion (Hardcover)
The self destruction of a brilliant individual caught in the grip of compulsive gambling. This is the life of Joe Hodges who brought tragedy upon himself and his family because of his inability to stop gambling. It's the story of a man who had the world by the tail, a wonderful wife, promising career, a son he cherished, and threw it all away not by choice but by compulsion. The book takes you through decades of self destructive behavior, bailouts, second chances, and paints a portrait of a man who continually refused to learn from his own mistakes. It also gives you a look firsthand at the lives that were devastated by those who loved and trusted him. It proves that the compulsive gambler can take not only himself down, but everyone around him. This book is very hard to put down and will have you on the edge of your seat as you spiral down the tunnel with Joe Hodges. Brilliantly written by Robin Moore.
