If you're looking for a dark, brooding, depressing synthpop album, then this probably is not the disc for you. But if you want to set the angst aside and get a perfectly produced uptempo, danceable, catchy synthpop album, then this is defintely the one to get. The songs are fun, the energy is consistently high, and it has become a favorite among modern synthpop fans.

I've seen a couple of negative reviews saying that it's better to get Assemblage 23 or VNV Nation. Well, those are good bands too, but Echo Image isn't meant to take the same, somewhat dark approach to synthpop, so it's hard to compare. Echo Image isn't singing about suicide or disappointment or mankind's self-destruction. Sure, there is emotion and meaning in Echo Image's lyrical content, but it isn't to make you move while your head hangs to the ground. It's meant to take the weight off for a while so you can just have fun.

Oh what a fun album! Yes, this is very Erasure-like with not only the synth sytle, but the vocals too. However, they somehow pull it off without sounding too blatantly like copy-cats...or maybe it's just so fun to listen to, who cares?!. Female background vocals, and trancy influences help set them apart from Erasure...and oh my, dare I say there are some actual guitar sounds?

I need to de-tox from every listen...so beware of a possible sugar-pop crash.

One of my favorite synthpop albums of all time, I highly recommend it!

this is one of 3 albums (the other two being Disconnect by IRIS and Are you weightless by XERO G ) that I just cant stop playing!
I know it sounds ridiculous but it actually makes me dance around the room when Im on my own,something I haven t done for the last ten years...it is simply wonderful!
"skulk" and "standing alone" and "need to be proud" is the best Pure Pop Trilogy since SOS ,Mamma Mia and Fernando, and Echo Image belong right up there with the gods!
The only thing is that sometimes it gets lazy and falls back onto other peoples sounds,(notably erasure),hopefully with the next album this will disappear..
