4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, a bit too specific
This is overall a good book if you're interested in specific examples in numerical analysis and possibly using parallel processing (message passing interface methods) for such problems. If you're trying to get a more general idea about numerical analysis, try Burden.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really a general methods book
I picked up this book to see if it would be useful in a numerical methods course, but I found that it was much too specific - This is a book on numerical methods for PDEs, and not a general methods text. If you are interested in PDE models, then this might be a useful book for you- The authors do include some interesting applications.

I hope you're buying this for class. Otherwise, the book is probably not the best written on the subject. The sections are a tough read. I'm not a math major, so maybe that's why I find it so difficult, but the organization and clarity could probably be improved as well.
