This book presents a computational approach to minimalism - the theory of syntax recently developed by Noam Chomsky and others which is transforming current linguistics.Intended for advanced students of computational linguistics and of syntax, it both reviews existing work and presents new research results. Besides its use in teaching aspects of language acquisition and parsing, the book should excite great interest in the linguistics community as one of the first sustained explorations of minimalist syntax and the first computational implementation of it. Based on classes taught at Barcelona, Utrecht, and UCLA, the book includes problem sets.
