the watered down version of CT,

This is for thoes who have no idea about the who, what, where, or why of CT. It offers a good start so that when you move on to a better book you will at least know the jargon. Very contradictory and sometimes just plain wrong.

Contradicting book,
By
This review is from: Computed Tomography (Paperback)
This study guide appears to be helpful at first. However, as one gets further along in the book, contradictions appear all over the place. In chapter 5 the author states that "z-axis resolution is reduced with spiral CT", but six pages later in the practice test, the correct answer is z-axis resolution is improved with spiral CT. What gives? Shame on the authors and editors for releasing a study guide that confuses as much as educates. I guess they were too busy counting their dollars to care.

NOT beneficial for CT Licensing Exam,
By
This review is from: Computed Tomography (Paperback)
This book is strictly about the mechanics and physics behind computed tomography. This information is only a portion (and not the largest) of the national exam. Additionally, within the first two chapters I found several errors in the chapter information versus the post "examinations." This does not provide allot of confidence in preparing for the exam. I discarded this book and purchased study materials through an online source geared to medical imaging and CT. I did pass the examination!

good review of important physics of CT.
This however is only a small part of the registry. If you want to prepare for the registry get Medical Imaging Consultants book.

Simple tutorials which explain the basics are assessed by varied MCQ's in an entertaining romp through CT history, physics, CT generations, gantry technology, image reconstruction, spiral CT, special CT techniques and excellent reviews of radiation dose, image quality and artefacts.
A very reasonable price completes the package. ****

Computed Tomography by Stewart Bushong,
By
This review is from: Computed Tomography (Paperback)
I am very impressed by Stewart Bushong's books. This book is concise, easy to follow and presented in a way that keeps your interest. The last time I performed a CT scan was in 1987. I am preparing to work on a 16 slice unit and this is one of the books I chose to help me get up to par in CT. I have been doing MRI since '87...lots have changes have occurred in CT imaging and I know Bushong can help me catch up!

Good for someone who is just beginning to study CT,
By DD "ixrayu4doe" (Michigan) - See all my reviews

I purchased this book for a quick review. I have already passed my boards and wanted a refresher. This book was not the book to use for that. It was written elementarily. I think if you only knew little about CT it could be helpful. Or if you didn't understand something, maybe it would help explain things better.

Book is outdated,

I am currently studying for the CT registry. I purchased this book and began reading it. The chapter on the physics and the CT contrast just did not seem right. The allergies and the contraindications for contrast seemed really outdated and the physics and design of the machine did not match the machine that I use. I flipped open the front of the book and the copyright date is 2000. Well in the world of CT that is light years from the present day. Some of the material is ok but for the most part the book is outdated and I did not trust the information in it to be accurate. I will put it in the recycle pile and use the other book that I bought. What a disappointment. Bushong is a great source but needs to update this book.

This book is really confusing and is not worth the time to study. Unable to really get a concept because the book is very contradicting. Would not waste my time. I just passed my CT registry and had to completley start over with the physics because this is really confusing. Do not waste your money.
