"This book provides practical and creative ways for the classroom teacher and the librarian to incorporate slideshow and Web page design (for both Windows and Macintosh platforms) into the curriculum though a series of quick and easy projects, designed for either classroom computers or an entire lab. The book is divided into four parts. Part one reviews computer basics using dialog boxes, file management, key commands, and text selection. Reproducible activities are provided for each of these areas. Part two provides suggestions and instructions for making slideshow presentations in the classroom and contains 35 activities that can easily be plugged into any curriculum content. Part three offers an overview of Web page design complete with eleven activities. Part four contains basic notes and simple activities to familiarize students with common painting and drawing tools and provides ten reproducible creative activities including making Venn diagrams, designing T-shirts and personal logos. Although there are similar titles available, this one is unique because the activities encourage students to think critically and use higher-level skills in addition to developing computer skills. A resource list of useful Web sites is provided at the beginning of each lesson. Index. Highly Recommended."
