Detailed Features:
Low Overheads
eTrust EZ Antivirus is small to download and is not a system resource hog! The download file is just 4.12 MB and unzipped it takes only 9 MB hard-disk space. It is suitable for Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, XP, and 2000 and requires a minimum of just 32 MB RAM on 95/98/ME, 74 MB RAM on NT/2000, and 128 MB RAM on XP.
Fully Automatic Signature Updates
eTrust EZ Antivirus 6.2 can be configured to automatically update your virus signature files at a frequency and time most convenient for you. Because eTrust EZ Antivirus has the smallest "footprint" of the leading antivirus providers, the signature updates only take a few minutes to complete. This easily and effectively addresses the number-one reason PC users suffer virus attacks; out-of-date signature lists.
Fully Automatic Scheduled Virus Scanning
eTrust EZ Antivirus provides schedule scan support allowing scan jobs to occur at pre-selected intervals and times that are most convenient for the user. The only way a local scan can occur with eTrust EZ Antivirus 5.x is by the user manually initiating the job.
Password Protected Program Options
By creating and utilizing a password to protect the eTrust EZ Antivirus options, you can allow changes to be made by only one user. This will prevent changes made by unauthorized users that would allow the eTrust EZ Antivirus options to be changed opening you up for a virus attack.
ICSA Certification
Several independent third parties test and certify antivirus software. The most widely recognized organization is the International Computer Security Association (ICSA). To be certified by the ICSA, the software must detect 100-percent of viruses "in the wild" (in general distribution), and at least 90-percent of the more than 6000 test viruses. All versions of eTrust EZ Antivirus are ICSA-certified. The test results are available on the Web at www.icsa.net.

I bought this bundled with EZ-Firewall. In spite of the dumb name this AV software is unbeatable. Despite or maybe BECAUSE of it's lean and mean characteristics. It is small, fast and effective.
Norton and McAfee should study this program hard. AV programs should be unobtrusive and require little overhead. Norton takes over your system and eats resources like no tomorrow. McAfee is just nagware constantly reminding you of all the great other McAffee products that you haven't bought yet and to add injury to insult it misses things. Before I installed eTrust in one machine I scanned with Norton with the latest sig file, system rea clean, ETrust found 4 virus files on the first sweep after installation! Real ones. (McAfee was better when it was inexpensive shareware) I trust this software and have purchased several licenses, one for each machine. It is well worth it. Scrap the other bloatware, this will make your machine safe and still usable. With eTrust installed I know I am safe. Highly recommended. eTrust just works.

Please ignore that 1-star review!,

EZ Antivirus DOES scan incoming and outgoing email (contrary to what the other reviewer might believe). This program may not include a firewall, but the firewall built into Windows XP SP2 is acceptable and the free edition of Zone Alarm is a good alternative as well.
The best aspect of EZ AntiVirus 2005 is that there is NO drag on system performance. Trend Micro, Norton, and McAfee ALL take a 6% hit on system performance, and all those other antivirus programs cause crashes, hangs, and blue screens under Windows XP (see cnet.com if you don't believe me). The interface on EZ Antivirus is much better on the newer version 7, so be sure to grab the latest version on their web site. Trust me - you'll never go back to Norton again!

I have tried all the free antivirus software including some pay ones. I have tried AVG (this one would not update) I download Avast (this one hogged my system resources and almost crashed my computer). I tried Mcafee (this one would not update at all, even when I tried to update, failed to find 4 viruses and made my computer slower than it was before).
So far eTrust EZ Antivirus has worked the best. It does not hog system resources and my computer is once again fast again. Thanks Computer Associates.
