What the heck is this?!!, November 17, 2002
This review is from: Computer Beach Party [VHS] (VHS Tape)
"Computer Beach Party" would have to make it onto my short list of the worst movies of all time. The paper thin plot is about some guy who is buying up property around a beach because he thinks there is buried treasure there. That's not much to build a feature film around, huh?
So far, I have seen approximately 5,000 or so movies and this one wins the award for worst dubbing. Most of the time, the actors' mouths don't match what you hear. At other times, loud music is playing and you can barely hear what anyone is saying. Speaking of music...some atrocious band named Panther is credited with providing the songs for this film. I use the word "music" very lightly because it would be more appropriate to call it a form of auditory torture.
The dialog is flaky and it very often appears as if the actors are simply ad-libbing whatever they feel like saying. It gives the film a rather surreal feel to it at times.
Even lovers of mindless and cheesy '80s flicks need to keep away from this one.
