Product Description

This Cat 5e cable is great for wiring your Gigabit Ethernet or 100Base-T computer network. The PVC jacket bends easily and is easily removable for plug installation. Backwards compatible with Category 5 (Cat 5) cable, so you can mix this cable and Cat 5 cable in the same network. Plugs are suitable for use with solid or stranded wire. The spring loaded crimp tool has cushioned plastic grips, a wire/cable cutter, and replaceable blades and crimp dies. The tester is suitable for Cat 6, Cat 5e, Cat 5, and BNC cables and has a two-piece design so that you can test installed cables. The two pieces of the tester snap together for easy transport or storage. Each half of the tester has an RJ45 and a BNC jack.

This is one of those items I've bought that I consider a bargain. The quality of the cable seems fine to me. The RJ-45 connectors are very good quality and you get 100 of them! If you were going to become a professional installer you would want a better crimp tool but for one job with a few dozen connectors it's perfectly good. I had to adjust the dies on my tool to line up. You need a hex key (Allen wrench) to do that. The tester works good indicating proper pin-out and connectivity but doesn't give any resistance measurement. This was my first job making network cables and it was easy. No reason to be apprehensive. I recommend watching an online tutorial on how to install the connectors and ignore the instructions that come with the crimp tool.

All in all this product was fine, the cable was good, tester worked, ends were fine, but the crimper was absolutely AWFUL. As in, "could not properly crimp whatsoever". I had to actually borrow a set from my office to use, because no matter what I did, that terrible crimper included in the set just didn't work. My review is low because most people will end up needing to go buy a new crimper to actually use any of the rest of this set.
