The desk arrived in two boxes, delivered on time and well packed with clear instructions. However, on unpacking it quickly become obvious that this is not as it was described - a "wood desk." Instead, it seems to be made entirely of low quality particle board. Generally, this wasn't an issue, as the desk comes with several compression screws that hold the board together well. However, the installation requires you to put together the hutch, then attach it to the desktop with six wood screws that are simply screwed into the end of the particle board supports. You are then supposed to attach the base and lift the unit, turn it over, and install the backing. The problem is, the particle board isn't dense enough to hold the screws. Even moving the unit very carefully, some the screws pulled out. It would work much better if you could set the hutch on top of the finished base and screw it into place that way, but the design puts the screws underneath portions of the finished base. After the desk is put together, however, it looks great and functions well. Just be sure to get some help with the assembly (this is not a one person job), be very carefully when lifting the unit, and don't expect a "wood desk."

This is a very sturdy, heavy desk. It really is made very well. It is a bit complicated to put together but it is doable, with patience and time. Start with separating all the nails, screws, etc. into an old ice cube tray. Perfect with all the dividers. You will fill one whole tray. A semi delivered the boxes and couldn't come down the driveway so be sure you have a truck or a sturdy cart to haul the desk to the house. It weighs about 231 LBS. Near the completion of putting the desk together, you will need an extra set of hands, to help. It really is a very nice desk and looks great. I honestly have been looking for a desk like this for a couple of years. People can't believe I put it together. They think it came like this from a furniture store.

Could not be more satisfied with this purchase. I could
not have put it together myself, but had two son-in-laws
that did it in a flash. It is really a great office space
for me and my computer. Very nice quality and nice looking. I am so happy we found it, just what I was looking for.

Happy with the desk, but wasn't an easy choice after reading other reviews. I was a bit sceptic about purchasing this desk. There is always good and bad ones to make your purchase discussion difficult. I bought the desk anyways and I'm glad I did. It took my husband and I about 3hrs with a brake or two, to put it together. Important things to remember; You really have to read the directions well n follow each step carefully. Some of the other reviews complained about the tower door and the pullout keyboard tray clashing. There is actually a process on the last page going over in detail how to fix this problem. It has a two step process you'll have to play with, to get it just right. You will also need at least two strong people to bring it to an upright position. But be careful because there is still two bolts that need tightening on the back keyboard side of the desk for the proper support. I think alot of people forget about this step and that's why they claim the leg snaps from the weight. Hope this review helps the, not so sure people :). I'm glad I decided to buy the desk, it has made my new craft office a heaven to go to and make gifts for my family n friends.

Attractive for the price, but it took a full day to assemble. It did come with all the parts. The ivory is actually a light beige or tan and the back is cardboard made to look like beadbord. It does store a computer perfectly and all the cubbies are nice!

So tired of the cheap, thin, flimzy, little student desks. I was looking for a desk that has plenty of work space, storage, and is sturdy. This is a beefy, substatial peice of furnature. Amazon, thank you for listing this desk so affordably. Trust me, if you have been searching for the same, STOP! This is a great desk for a great offer. Just remember you'll need muscle and a friend to assemble and set in place. My husband said its heavy, I knew that wasa good thing! Beaware, it comes in two boxes and may arrive separatly.

I had a much larger Sauder computer desk with hutch in my family room. When I decided to turn a now-extra bedroom into a nook for me, the desk was just too big...to get up the stairs and for the lower Cape Cod ceiling upstairs. I ordered this desk as a replacement due to the smaller dimensions and the lighter wood color. It is perfect for the space and for what I want to do in my nook. Some of the pieces are heavy and I remember someone mentioning this before so we took their advice and had a stronger person with us to help set up the last few steps. Be careful when tacking on the backing as we didn't realize we missed the wood frame we were attaching the backing to in a couple of spots...so the nails/mess are showing. But...I have to say that as long as you take your time (we stretched it out over 3 days/nights) and really read and re-read the directions (we each read each step before we started it), don't force any of the hardware, put down a soft floor covering if you don't have carpet and be patient/not rushing...well, it will go really smoothly. When we have put these types of things together in the past, I believe we rushed and so things went awry. Happy here!
