5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive, with Error-free Computer Code, September 30, 2010
This review is from: Computer Graphics (Hardcover)
Although the edition that I read is dated (second edition 1994) the theory and computer code is still fresh and useful.

The book covers every aspect of computer graphics, from addressing hardware issues (such as how to efficiently generate algorithms that address the pixel level of different CTRs and all the related problems involved), to explaining the mathematics of each element along with the computer code as modular subroutines that easily can be integrated into a full-blown graphics system.

Those not up on the mathematics are in for a treat, as the basics of coordinate reference frames, two and three-dimensional Cartesian geometry, polar coordinates, Analytic Geometry, Basis vectors, Metric tensors, basic matrix operations, parametric representations, solving both linear and non-linear equations, and curve fitting are explained succinctly and clearly. More advanced aspects of these and related topics appear as a set of appendices.

This is all done it a user friendly package with high quality diagrams and photos along with error-free computer code written in a standard procedural language, for each of the mathematical entities needed to build up a full system, piecewise.

A computer disk with the code and a website for interactive consultation would have been very useful, but for the money this book was a bargain. Five Stars.
