Excellent for beginners,
This review is from: Computer Literacy BASICS: A Comprehensive Guide to IC3 (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book for anyone who is not experienced with computers but who would like to learn. It covers basic computer software and hardware concepts, basic applications, such as MS Word and MS Excel, as well as basic internet concepts and applications. It doesn't assume the reader has any prior computer knowledge. It starts at the beginning and teaches everything the average person needs to know.

Solid book, but you may just want to get the previous edition, which is much cheaper,

This is a solid book, and I highly recommend it. I've had 150 students pass the exam using both this book, and the previous edition of the book: IC3 BASICS: Internet and Computing Core Certification. But for nearly $100 for the new version, I would recommend that a cost-conscience buyer to purchase the previous edition (IC3 BASICS: Internet and Computing Core Certification) which sells for around $15-$25 used on Amazon. Why? Because the old version has 98% of the information students need to pass the exam, so why pay a huge premium for that extra 2%? You can easily supplement the previous version with free information readily available on the Internet, and save yourself $75. Either way, the new version or the old, you can't go wrong.

New and in perfect condition, delivered swiftly, book needs to be updated as far as material. Other than that, working with Vista versus Windows 7, is only slightly different.

this book is perfect, we almost thought it was a brand new book when we first got it, only difference is a little crease at the very bottom of the spine, which happens on any book usually within the 1st month of toting it around

It was brought to my attention a used textbook would not have the SAM codes included. So I purchased a new book. upon arival the SAM copdes were not included and were referenced thought the book. I called Customer service and a new book was sent and again no codes. I had to purchase the codes seperately from another source for an additional 68.00 so that I could catch up with my computer class. I called customer service again. I was told a refund would be issued for the book and the book and listing info would be reviewed so that would not happen to another student. As of this note I have not recieved my refund or the email promised to me by the representative discribing the arrangement made by Amazon's representative and myself.

Overpriced,

This book is way overpriced for what you get. I thought it included an interactive test CD--it doesn't. There are far better books for way less money. Do yourself a favor, if you have to buy this book then buy a used copy. This is just one more example of an over-priced text book. The book isn't bad, just way over-valued. I purchased this for my son who is taking an IC3 course in high school. As a programmer I have read many technical books and I think this is the MOST EXPENSIVE book I have ever purchased. If you want to learn basic computer skills you can probably do better with a book on Computers, Windows 7, and MS Office (and probably still spend less money).
