Computer Required? I don't have a computer. Is a computer required for me to use the new expensive ipod touch?

I have android devices, but they all work great without computers.

Yes, you can use it without a computer. But are you not planning to put transfer any music to it? or are you just buying your music directly from the itunes app on the ipod? If so, you should not need a computer. You will need the computer for OS updates, though.

Why would I need transfer music to the device? Both Amazon mp3 and google music transfer to mobile apps without needing to be teathered.

the iTunes system of doing things is outdated and 10 years old.

Don't get mad at free_falling just for trying to help you. They didn't create iTunes and I'm sure they don't work for Apple either.
