One of the best Strategy Guides Ever...., May 17, 2004
This review is from: Computer Strategy Games Bible: Unauthorized (Prima's secrets of the games) (Paperback)
This a throwback to the old days of EXCELLENT strategy guides whereby the author would get at the "meat" of the game in 10-20 pages of room. The book covers 15 great games (classic games in today's terms that are STILL fun to play) including:
1. Afterlife (LucasArts)
2. Civ II
3. Original Command & Connquer (w/ Covert Ops)
4. Heroes of Might and Magic
5. Lords of the Realm
6. Master of Magic
7. Master of Orion
8. SimCity 2000
9. ThemePark
10. Warcraft II
11. X-Com 1 & Terror from the Deep
And a couple others I can't remember right now.
Nowadays it seems you have to have a strategy guide for each game...but you still only get 10-20 pages of good info...and the rest are filler (why sell 1 book for $20 covering 15 games when you can sell 15 books for $20 EACH for 15 games...)
As for the author, Michael Rymaszewski is one of the best strategy game writers out there. Unlike some of the books that are out before the actual game is released, you can tell he is a hardcore gamer and loves these games.
This book still sets on my shelf next to my PC today...
