My wife bought two cans of this "no sugar added" pie filling thinking it would contain, you know, cherries without added sweetener. I baked the filling into a pie without noticing the teeny "Splenda" symbol down along the bottom edge of the label (see product photo). To our disappointment we discovered the artificial sweetener on our first bite of pie. To our tastes, the pie was inedible and we threw it out. Personally, I'd have preferred an actual "no sugar added" filling but even sugar would be better for you than an artificial sweetener.

Since Comstock obviously needs to do a better job of labeling it's products, I went to leave them feedback on their website. Unfortunately, they wanted every bit of my personal contact information (Email, phone and address) in order to do them a favor and provide feedback on their product. Hopefully they get this message.

When the Comstock Cherry Pie Filling was processed by Bird's Eye, it had a light pleasing cherry color and was decent quality. Now with the Duncan Hines label the color is very dark, has to be more food coloring, and there is more syrup and fewer cherries. I have used Comstock for years but will now be looking for another brand.

I am a diabetic. I love this product. I put it on ice cream, in yogurt and over waffles. I sometimes even make a pie . :)
I flavor the filling with almond extract and sometimes I will add vanilla.

This may not have sugar, but it tastes very strongly of SUCRALOSE, the chlorocarbon substitute marketed as Splenda.

If you can tolerate Splenda, then you might like this.

I cannot, and only upon tasting, and spitting out a mouthful of delicious crust and absolutely terrible filling, did I read the ingredients, having stopped at NO SUGAR ADDED.

Big MISTAKE. This tastes plain horrible, to me.

BUYER BEWARE!

I used this too bake for a diabetic and he loved it. I used cinnamon and ginger over the apples - you might try that if your taste buds are that sensitive to Splenda. Highly recommend. Some apple pie spice would work too.
