Book Description

There are vampires in the lobby, succubi in the beds, and bodies in the bathroom. It's ConSensual, where the editors are demons, the writers are crazy and the vampires and werewolves might be the most stable people in the room.

If that isn't enough, Dracula is staying at the hotel on a business trip for his wood-based hardware chain, Kit Marlowe is one of the authors, and there's an out of control baby vampire to deal with. Once again, the "Save the World" department is caught with its pants down.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Want To Go to HER Cons. October 14, 2012

I've been to Cons and they were NEVER this much fun. I must just suck at reading the programs. So I miss all the good stuff.

Lots of fun with the return of the Con-going Vampire and his wacky friends, who maintain their wackiness in the face of some very non-wacky goings-on. "Bloody-minded" doesn't even begin to cover it. In my opinion it needs less tease and more sex, but then in my opinion pretty much everything short of Marc Cabot's books needs less tease and more sex. So you probably shouldn't count that part against her. It's a good book, even if you're not a Con-going kind of person. Maybe after you read it you will be!

5.0 out of 5 stars Light-hearted and Dark Souled February 10, 2013

I was having a really bad day, and decided I needed something to get my mind off of it. Fortunately, I had ConSensual on my kindle. A few hours later I realize two things that made me sad. One, it was over and I'd have to wait a while for the sequel, and two, it was one am. Kate's stories make me laugh, her sheer force of character comes through brilliantly in each of the people (yes, they are more than mere cardboard characters, you feel that you really know them) she writes into her tales. The darkness of some of the things that happen at this con are well offset by the gallows humor of the cast. I laughed out loud in the dark often enough to sleep well when I had finally come to the end of their adventures. Also, it amuses me to guess at who the congoers are, as I know some are drawn from real life. I keep waiting to meet Jim at some con I attend...

Murder most foul. Vampires galore, including, yes, the original Dracula. Werewolves in love. A science fiction convention filled with imps, demons, succubi, incubi and then there are authors and fans. Kate Paulk has done a fantastic job in this second volume of the "Vampire Con Series." It helps, but is not necessary at all, if you recognize some of the people "tuckerized" in her novel. I thought I spotted myself there.

If you have been a con-goer, you'll recognize this place. If you think you might want to go, read this and find out. Beneath the blood and inside jokes, there is a terrific murder mystery, and the ever-present Joe Buckley. But this Buckley can't be killed-- he's a zombie already.

Kate Paulk is one of the new breed of indie authors, and her Naked Reader Press is already acquiring a reputation for good stories and good writing. How can you go wrong? She's an excellent writer, both comedic and serious, and I recommend her other works, as well as ConSensual, very much.
