2.0 out of 5 stars Powerful dryer--maybe a little too powerful...
I've had this dryer for a little over a year. In the beginning, the hot setting made the dryer emit a rather disturbing burnt plastic smell, but since I never needed to use that setting given how hot the warm setting is, it wasn't much of a problem. I've had this dryer for a little over a year. In the beginning, the hot setting made the dryer emit a rather disturbing burnt plastic smell, but since I never needed to use that setting given how hot the warm setting is, it wasn't much of a problem. But after a year of use, the warm setting is beginning to emit the same burning smell! The last thing I want near my head is something that smells like it's about to catch fire. I'll be replacing this dryer. My other complaint is that, from the beginning, the "cool" setting (and thereby the cool shot button) isn't all that cool. It won't "freeze set" your hair as it claims.

PROS: Hair dries FAST! Lots of power. High heat. Lots of heat/speed settings. Housing looks nice.
CONS: Shuts off everytime it gets too hot. (Which is good I suppose... if you are concerned with overheating. But for me it would die in the middle of getting ready for work. It cost a lot of time waiting for it to cool and click back on.)
FINAL NOTE: It completely died!! Granted, I used it almost everyday for a year or more. But today when I went to use it, it just wouldn't turn on. Totally dead. :(
DECENT DRYER FOR THE PRICE. BUT IF YOU'RE WILLING TO SPEND A LITTLE MORE, TRY SOMETHING BETTER.

Not alot of hairdryers "Blow" as much air as this...they should keep this model, instead of all these new ones...the four other brands i have tried, i have returned, for the lack of air flow. My only recommendation with this is that it gets hot, and if you shut it off on the hottest setting it will not kick on for a few minutes...i always put mine on cool for the last minute before shutting it off, and i dont have a problem...i think it's just a safety feature. Keep this hairdryer Conair, and dont discontinue it!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars reputable brand but too hot to handle, March 5, 2004

This review is from: Conair 094WBR 1875-Watt Translucent Hair Dryer, Full-Size (Health and Beauty)
I have had my Conair translucent dryer for over a year (and I blow-dry daily). Pros- hair dries FAST due to the SUPER heating elements. It's lightweight, and not as loud as some dryers I've used. The filter snaps on and off easily, so a quick cleaning is no problem. Not many dryers come with three heating options (four, when you count the cool shot button) AND three speeds, as this one does.
That said, the cord is really thick and often rolls up on its own--annoying--plus there's no hang loop. The heat is almost too hot. It sometimes smells like the plastic is melting. I definately wouldn't recommend this to someone with fine or damaged hair.

This hairdryer is wonderful. Works great! Enjoy ease of use and looks. Only drawback is the additional parts tend to fall off easily.

I really didn't like this hairdryer because when I did use
I felt like my hair was singed. On top of that it made my
hair frizzy with flyaways. I definetly would not recomend
this dryer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Alright for the price, November 21, 2005
This review is from: Conair 094WBR 1875-Watt Translucent Hair Dryer, Full-Size (Health and Beauty)
I have had this hair dryer for almost 2 years (I think) and it finally died today. It drove me nuts how it would shut itself off after getting hot. So everytime I turned it off I would turn on the cool button so I could turn it right back on when needed to. It's a good safety feature but really annoying when your trying to get ready in the morning with limited amount of time. I will not be buying this hair dryer again.

2.0 out of 5 stars smells like somthing's burning, September 27, 2001

I have used this dryer for a couple of years with no problems but just started noticing the burning smell (mentioned in a previous review) when using the high setting. The smell is worrisome enough to stop me from using it, and I'll be getting a replacement soon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so impressed, May 9, 2002

This review is from: Conair 094WBR 1875-Watt Translucent Hair Dryer, Full-Size (Health and Beauty)
I used this dryer and loved it for about 2 weeks then the heat went out on it. I brought it back and got a new one(the same kind) and now 6 months later it won't even turn on. I am done with these dryers, they keep breaking.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Conair 094WBR 1875-Watt Translucent Hair Dryer, Full-Size (Health and Beauty)
I'm shocked to read that people have been having trouble with this hair dryer! I bought this hair dryer when I was 16 or 17 years old (I'm 24 now) and it has worked PERFECTLY for me. I've NEVER had a problem with it getting too hot and/or turning off. Not once!! I use this hair dryer almost everyday and my hair is a little bit thicker than average, so the impressive air speed dries my hair quickly and effortlessly. I've tried newer hair dryers with ionic technology, and to tell you the truth, I am not impressed. The air speed is MUCH slower, therefore taking longer to dry my hair. I'm all about time ... the quicker the better. In fact, I just bought my Mom this hair dryer (after making the mistake of purchasing an ionic hair dryer even though it had great reviews). She would borrow my hair dryer and throw hers away because it didn't even compare. We're talking about drying hair here. If you want to cut your drying time in half, try this one. YOU CAN'T BEAT THE AIR SPEED.
