4.0 out of 5 stars Overall great, minor complaints
Overall the product is great, the clock is a little hard to read on my night stand I have to shield it from any light and the directions for setting the alarm a little unclear, but after I figured them out no problems. Sound is good and cd great. The lighting on the caller id needs to be brighter.

This is a very good "Clock/Phone" not the best *that would be the Timex "clock/phone" But this Conair "Clock/Phone" is just that, a simple easy function Clock/ phone with caller ID /AM FM radio/and CD player. This is a very good "Clock/Phone" not the best *that would be the Timex "clock/phone" But this Conair "Clock/Phone" is just that, a simple easy function Clock/ phone with caller ID /AM FM radio/and CD player. It has a 3 Alarm function (buzz/radio/cd) on 2 Alarm setting buttons. If your looking for a Office/or Bussiness all in one PHONE, THEN get the Timex, but if you just want a good Bedside Clock / Phone then this one is for you. There are draw backs with this product though. As reported in past reviews yes if your bedside table is higher than your bed, & your looking up from your pillow, The numbers get fuzzy. But if your bed is level with, or lower, the numbers are large and easy to read. The Buzz alarm is not a Buzz, but a beep, *it's the sound found in some cars, The fasten your seat belts beep.. *you can control the volume of it. The Radio is digital, but the stations are about .05 to .10 off on Am. but reception is good and clear. FM is just as touchy freqencys off about the same. The phone is clear, and the push buttons are big & nicely lit. The unit also has back up power *not stated in the Amazon post. The Back up clock runs off 3 AAA batts located on the bottom.*not included.. The Caller ID also needs 3 AAA batts *not included.. It also has a headphone jack. *for ear buds, or pillow speaker. The CD player works great, But I feel it's a bit of an over kill but it works fine for a small unit. ( Do NOT expect it to be mid line / or even the royce of CD players though, but it works well for what it is.. So It's a good Product, Nothing flashy, does what it says. Is solid. Great for the bedroom, But if you want better, or wish one for more daily use, I'd say go for the Timex.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not my phone of choice, October 18, 2005
This review is from: Conair CID502 Corded Phone with Caller ID, Clock Radio, and CD Player (Metallic Silver) (Office Product)
I didn't find this phone to be user friendly. After I got it set up, which was not terribly complicated, I found that it was almost impossible to read the display on both the phone and the digital time display. I looked in the directions for ways to fix this problem and couldn't find anything relevant. I tried to adjust the contrast but it didn't make a big difference. I ended up buying another company's phone and it works much better and has caller ID waiting as well.

this looked like just the thing i needed - fulfilled all my "wants" - problem was, when it arrived, NOTHING worked on it. Just a hunk of plastic - totally useless. Save yourself the grief and keep looking.

I was hoping that this product would meet my needs. While it appears to be well made I found it hard to use. All 3 LCD dsiplays are difficult to see unless held at a very narrow angle of vision. Even adjusting the contrast didn't help much. The AM/FM radio tuner is very sensitive and hard to tune in to the desired stations.

I've been looking for a clock radio/telephone locally and couldn't find one so shopped on line and found the CID502. Sounded like just what I wanted. However....the clock display is black on gray and very hard to see during the day. At night, without my glasses it was impossible to read. Usually, these displays are red or green and much more visible.

Also, the radio dial was very touchy. I kept going past the station I wanted, then I'd reverse and go past it again. Very frustrating so after one day I sent it back.

I'm still looking for a good clock/radio/telephone.

C. H.

3.0 out of 5 stars good, September 3, 2005
This review is from: Conair CID502 Corded Phone with Caller ID, Clock Radio, and CD Player (Metallic Silver) (Office Product)
I had an older Conair model (cid500 i think) and am sad the preset radio stations disappeared. I like the phone handset having the pushbuttons - the old pne had the buttons on the unit.

My needs are 1. Alarm clock - 2. corded phone - 3. good FM radio reception 4. earphone jack - 5. all in one unit

Great alarm (2 alarms) and nice to have the earphone jack so i dont disturb the wife. THe new system has digital tuning but uses a dial (ugh!) and the reception is just OK. I have a weak station that my mp3 player picks up at the same location. THe older unit had an external antennae wire and the 502 does not. I wish there was a better choice for a corded phone (so the phone is always there when it rings) with a good FM tuner. Anyone know of one? email me

The volume control doesn't work (I can't hear the CD or radio) and I've tried everything I can think of to fix it. Unfortunately, I bought it as a gift for my Mom who was intimidated about trying to put it together, so when I finally visited recently and set it up for her, my 30 day return policy was way over and I figured Amazon might not let me return it. What a lousy product! DON'T BUY IT!

UPDATE: I wrote to Amazon and they have very kindly allowed me an exception to their return policy. I'm now only disappointed with Conair and Amazon has my full and wholehearted support back! THANK YOU AMAZON!

UPDATE #2: Amazon kept saying they were sending me a return authorization form but after numerous calls and emails and confirmation of the address etc, over a period of several months, the form never did arrive. I have finally given up! AMAZON didn't come through after all. I take back all my compliments and am now doubly angry with Amazon. Now I'll take it up with American Express. SHAME ON AMAZON!

This review is from: Conair CID502 Corded Phone with Caller ID, Clock Radio, and CD Player (Metallic Silver) (Office Product)
I purchased this product because it met all the needs I had for helping me get up in the morning. I am very happy with it. I have recommended it to several friends. Thank you for a great system.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't do it!, May 31, 2008
This item is a piece of junk. The clock is visible only if you look at is from the perfect angle, I cannot see it from lying in my bed, because I am slighlty lower than it is. Only 1 radio station comes in. The caller ID only works if you put batteries in the hand set. The sound of the cd spinning is sometimes louder than the music on the cd. I cannot think of anything good to say about it!
