4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value
After reading many many enthusiastic reviews about this flat iron I decided to give it a try. I have long very curly biracial hair that's thick but not coarse (Type 3B). The color of this straightener is nice. It's very pretty.

It feels cheap. It's very light (for a straightener), and the ceramic-coated plates don't touch unless I press them together very hard. When I first turned it on, it smelled bad. Really bad, like burning plastic. Upon subsequent uses this smell has disappeared. It does feel good in my hand, and it's...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, January 8, 2010

After reading many many enthusiastic reviews about this flat iron I decided to give it a try. I have long very curly biracial hair that's thick but not coarse (Type 3B). For me, this flat iron works *really well.* This is my first flat iron purchase and I did TONS of googling before buying this one.

PROS:(1) It's crazy inexpensive! (2) A buttload of temp settings - most I'll never use (3) It gets hot fast, and reaches very high temps so that I only have to do one or two passes over any 1 - 1.5 in section of hair.(4) It's super lightweight so my arms never get tired during the ~40 minute straightening process. And (5) the cord swivels out of the way which is a nice feature. (6) Can do some minimal styling like curling hair ends and adding wave.

Now for the CONS: (1) the plates are only ceramic coated. I've discovered (after much internet research and talking to my stylist) that this means two things: first, they probably won't last very long, especially if consistently used at very high temps. Second, Your hair will get snagged more often and this will increase over time as the ceramic gets 'pitted' (2) You probably wont ever really get that "salon straightened shine" without using tons of silicone-based products. Now, I have nothing against silicone products and I use them all the time, but they will accumulate heavily in your hair and washing them out results in 'stripping' your hair (because of the bonds silicone forms with the proteins in your hair) and that means duller more easily damaged hair in the long run. BUT - all you have to do is put back in the silicon and, viola, smooth and shiny again. If this vicious cycle is not for you, then you should understand that unless you have titanium or full ceramic plates you're flat-ironed hair isn't going to be super shiny. (3) Will not straighten damp or wet hair (but most flat irons don't do this so no biggie).

Overall, excellent buy but purchase knowing that you're not going to get the Hope diamond of flat irons.

This is an awesome straightener. You get your money's worth. I've tried BED HEAD's straightener which can cost more than $100 and it doesn't work as great as this straightener. I bought an additional one since I love it so much. GREAT BUY.

The Conair brand products generally work well and this product is not an exception. It straightens quickly and quite well for having such small plates. The one con that I can think of is that it doesn't have a comb attachment, which speeds up straightening and makes your hair a lot smoother. It's a great tool nonetheless.

I bought this flat iron for my teenage daughter upon her request. I was worried that it would be cheaply made, but it actually works really well. I like that you can adjust the heat setting. My daughter uses it often and loves it. I highly recommend this product....and it's nice that part of the sale goes to fight breast cancer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product for the price, April 17, 2009
This review is from: Conair CS3B Ceramic Straightener, Power of Pink, 1 Inch (Health and Beauty)
I bought this item only for my Europe trip since it's a dual power. Although it was not as good, straighten my hair out smoothly, like my Chi, but I really didn't expect it to, but it worked great. It did take longer and a few more runs through my hair, but for the price and for the sized it was a great buy and well worth it. I would definatly recommend this product for it's ease in use and price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Buy for an Excellent Price, September 1, 2008

When I was searching for a straightener I didn't want to spend alot on it. I have long fine hair and it is usually easy to style, so I took a risk in buying a $20 straightener vs. a $60 like my friends were recommending. Thankfully I found this one because not only does it get me tons of compliments on my straight hair days, but it supports breast cancer research. I like that it has 30 temperature settings so I can control it not damaging my hair.

Here's the kicker: the first day I wore my hair straight my co-workers were amazed and asked if it took all morning to do my hair. They were surprised to hear that all it took was about 20 minutes! After blowdrying with a big round brush, I ran the iron quickly thru my hair to make it smooth and straight... and voila! =)

If you have fine hair and like to control the settings, this is a GREAT VALUE! I LOVE IT!
Now, if you have thick hair, I honestly do not know how you would like this... with my fine hair I use it in the 12-15 setting and it works. Not sure if the 30 setting would work on thick hair? I went into this that if it doesnt work, then I'll fork out $60 on a pricey one. But thankfully, I love it and dont have to do that! Good Luck!!

It doesn't burn my hair, doesnt take forever to get hot, does the job done right and doesn't take any longer than any other hair straighter.

What else can you ask for?

It's great!

It does feel good in my hand, and it's fairly easy to use, for a straightener. I've always had problems straightening my own hair, so I can't blame that on this straightener.

It heats up very quickly, and I like that it has lights telling me when it's gotten to the temperature I want. The heat setting guide in the instructions is also very helpful, especially for someone who isn't used to using heated styling tools.

I have very fine but thick hair, and it straightened my hair pretty well on the first run through without burning or anything. It does not, however, glide through my hair. It snagged quit a few times, though I brushed my hair and made sure to fully separate the strands to be straightened from the others. What's that about? I think it must be my fault some how,but I'm sure not sure.

This is a good straightener especially for the price, and it is a good straightener for a novice.

I ordered this straightener a few weeks ago for myself. I always have a hard time with straighteners, and most normally don't work well with my hair. This is until I purchased this item!! I love it.

I bought this product to use during my trip to Europe. It heated up quickly and did a good job of straighting my hair. I would recommend this product.
