3.0 out of 5 stars Meh, not all i expected., January 19, 2012

I bought this a year ago for smoothing out wrinkles in backdrops for photography. It works, the water heats up VERY hot. The only problem is that I have noticed that small amounts of water are coming out. Which leads to several inches of backdrop having wet spots here and there; not exactly desireable. Despite the fact that the water container is always at a lower level than the hose, and im holding the hose away from the fabric. Odd. But if you dont mind getting what ever it is steamed, and slightly wet, than the wrinkles do come out quite well. Would not buy again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very difficult to use, February 3, 2011
This review is from: Conair Compact Fabric Steamer
I thought this would be simple to use. First of all, even if I hang my clothes up to steam, I like to have a hand free to hold the sleeve and move the item while I steam. With this Steamer, I had to use one hand to hold the steamer and the other to hold the steamer wand... that left no hands free. Not to mention that the hose was tight and short and wasn't easy to maneuver. I ended up just sticking it in the top of my closet and then selling it at a yard sale for $5 because it wasn't worth the time or effort...

2.0 out of 5 stars Waste, December 23, 2010

I got this steamer thinking that it would be great to have a quick fix on one of those days you pull your shirt out and it's too wrinkled to wear. It's NOT that simple. To operate this thing, you have to leave it plugged in for over ten minutes for it to get going. Secondly, if you leave water in it, it could get all crusted and damaged so you have to detach the hose to empty and fill it every time. Preferably with distilled water. Thirdly, it doesn't even work that well. I have to run it over and over. It's not like I am steaming canvas, usually just cotton/ linen. And then it makes water blobs.

I think the ideal situation for this is that you like to iron your clothes each week and want to set aside a designated time to steam instead. It is not a quick steam for one item because of the setup and disassembling. I used it about three times, disappointed each time because it took significantly longer than ironing and doesn't really hold the "pressed" look. I don't need it to look starched, but if I fold it for later, I want it to remain nice. This just was a huge disappointment. I wish I could return it.
