Just got the kit and tried it on my 3year old. works great at cutting and trimming hair. Relatively quiet. The only concern I have is regarding the need to oil the clipper after each use.

Deluxe kit with video was a dud, October 24, 2004
This review is from: Conair HC220XCS 20-Piece Deluxe Haircut Kit with Video (Health and Beauty)
For those who already have some idea of how to cut hair this is a good set to cut the family's hair and bypass the salon.
Anytime I have cut my children's hair you can tell it was done by someone not really knowledgeable in the fine art of hair cutting. The problem is that when the bangs look crooked I keep cutting until there is no hair there and it looks worse than earlier. Both my children are autistic and hate having their hair brushed, combed, washed and especially cut. My oldest will stand or sit still for the session but is not happy and constantly brushing hair off his back, shoulders and moving his head up and down in the process.
The storage case is convenient and keeps all contents in one place, but the video was hard to follow and they never showed how to oil the clipper.
I watched the video two times before opening up the case and attempting to touch the contents and figure it all out. I did all this in the living room while the video was still in. My oldest son enjoyed watching the video as he was doing his homework, a nice distraction for him. To be perfectly honest I am not the type of person to put anything together, directions and me do not mix. I prefer to pay someone to put items together or purchase floor models to avoid the frustration.
Immediately the directions were overwhelming. I needed to get a screwdriver to turn a dial on the clipper. This is a heavy unit that I was not used to holding and I rewound the video to this section to see how they did it. The people on the video went too fast in all aspects of learning how to use the Conair® 20-Piece Deluxe Haircut Kit with Video. At this point I felt like a total failure and just wanted to return the blasted thing right away.
Those who have experience with professional clippers, the Conair® has the taper lever positioned at thumb level. It is mentioned that you can hold the clipper in your hand and adjust the lever while your clipping. Well this certainly was not possible at my house, and I don't intend to try again anytime soon. When you are cutting short hair the lever gets moved up as far as possible. When you need to increase cutting length the lever goes down. I could not be bothered with learning all these details and decided I would just try this sucker out and see what the results were. Before plugging into an outlet with this polarized plug the directions indicated the blades needed to be oiled. What an ordeal this turned out to be. I needed a pin to insert to get the oil out and then I had no clue on how to do this, as the video did not cover oiling and I never did this before. You cannot see the oil squeezing out, but the blade looked like the oil was there.
The neck brush was easy to use, plus my son liked it because he wanted the hair off his body as soon as it fell off. There are combs for the ears that were easier to use and the barber comb that I used the most. I could not use it with the scissors as was shown in the video, but I did manage to get the hair cut in one long sitting.
On my third hair cutting session I lost confidence again with my using the Conair® 20-Piece Deluxe Haircut Kit with Video when the clipper made a weird loud noise that made me nervous. There was no way I was going to use it on my son again so I just went with the barber comb and the scissors along with the barber cape and comb. These few items hardly seem worth the twenty-five dollars I paid. I am going to try selling this on ebay. Surely someone who knows what they are doing would appreciate this item far more than collecting dust at my house.
