When the wax has melted and you have tested the temperature, place one hand in the wax and remove it immediately. Wait a few seconds until the paraffin no longer looks wet, and repeat the dipping process until five layers have formed. Then slip your hand into a plastic liner, which helps to retain the heat that is so beneficial for pain relief. Finally, slip your hand (or foot) into one of the cozy terry cloth mitts and relax for 10 to 15 minutes while the heat of the paraffin soothes and softens your hand.
If you're the only person using the spa, you may wish to recycle the wax after you have peeled it off your hand. Replacement wax can also be purchased separately. When treatment is finished, simply shut the unit off, allow the wax to cool, and replace the cover. The tub is then ready to be stowed. The Conair Spa enables you to give yourself salon-style treatment at home for a fraction of the cost! --Erin Brown

great treat for yourself or someone you love!,

I purchased this spa, and I love this! I didn't purchase it for treatment of arthritis, but for my very dry skin. I wash my hands often, and as a result, they often crack and bleed. This treatment is just what the doctor ordered. You dip your hands several times, and then put the plastic liners and cotton mitts on. I would suggest putting the mitts in the microwave for a minute or so, so that they are warm, and this helps the wax stay warmer as well. The liners were easy to put on, the opening is generous, and they worked for my hands and my feet well. I will caution you though: This is wax, and it is very warm. After you dip a few times it isn't quite so, but it is warmer than I like my bath water. You also need to plan ahead.... the wax block takes six hours to melt. The reason this only received four stars instead of five is because it didn't have a built in timer to remedy this. Instead, I went to the store and picked up a plug in timer. I set it for about six hours before I get home from work, and then my prepping to use this is taken care of. The wax also is very moistuizing, and I have to admit both my hands and feet felt very relaxed when I was done. I picked this one over the others because it included everything you needed from the mitts to the liners. I will definitely get my moneys worth out of it!

The best gift out there!,

This Paraffin spa comes with everything you need to protect your hands and feet from winter's dry weather at less than half the price of the competition. If you are new to paraffin treatments, they are simple and luxurious. After the wax melts (which unfortunately takes six hours due to the generous six pounds (!) of paraffin provided), you dip your hands or feet (clean them first) in and out of the paraffin about six times, building up multiple layers of warm, moisturizing wax. You then put your hands or feet into one of the 60 plastic liners provided, then into a cloth insulation pouch (also provided) and enjoy 15-20 minutes or so of healing warmth. After the treatment is over, you have a wax "glove" that comes off easily and you can recycle back into the paraffin spa or into the trash. The treatments are addictive, and this was the perfect gift for my wife, who says it is actually healing her chronically chapped hands! Unfortunately, this model is so darn popular that it sells out quickly, so if you find one, buy it!

Just like professional paraffins,

I get my nails done professionally on a bi-weekly basis. A paraffin treatment where I go costs $7.00. Others I know of charge $5.00. That's per treatment! Now I can have a daily treatment at home if I like. I always loved to have this done when I got my nails done in the winter. My hands are always dry and chapped, even if I wear gloves all the time. Not only is this wonderfully warm and soothing...and good for the skin, it is good for the nails and cuticles as well. One thing I do that is not in the directions is something they do in the salon I go to. I slather my hands with moisturizer, and I put a special cream on my nails and cuticles BEFORE treatment. I rub it all in really well before dipping my hands into the wax. Yes, it takes a long time to heat up, but the directions I received stated that clearly. I just turn it on before I leave for work an use it when I get home. This product has already paid for itself considering what I was spending at my manicurist!
