Everything seems just perfect with this item. I had thought about the smaller version but decided to go with the bigger outdoor thermometer and am very happy I did this. This one is the perfect size for our home. I think if I had gone with the small one it would have been too small to see, except right up close to the window and a real waste of money. The finish is nice and shiny, but not cheap looking and will work with most any outdoor decor. I bought this for my husband for our 7th anniversary (copper), so for a nice, practical gift here is a wonderful idea for you. Also, the attachment piece is nice and long, so you can mount it away from your house and not directly next to the siding.

I was very disappointed with this product. While the copper housing appears solid and looks very nice, the thermometer function is inaccurate and unreliable. I mounted this unit in various outdoor locations - partial sun, shade, windy, protected patio, etc...and tested it by comparing it to a calibrated refrigerator thermometer. The temperature reading from the Conant was almost never accurate over a period of many days. What good is an outdoor thermometer that fluctuates wildly with the slightest variation in surrounding conditions? No good at all to me. And unfortunately, since I bought this as a Christmas present for my wife early in December and didn't get around to testing it until January, Amazon return policy says I can't even return it for a full refund since I'm past the 30 days! Very disappointing.

MY HUSBAND REALLY LIKED THE THERMOMETER. LARGE DIAL SO NO NEED TO RUN OUT AND CHECK TEMPERATURE. JUST OPENED AS PRESENT. TEMPERATURE IS EXACTLY RIGHT.

This themometer does not give an even close temperature reading. If it's 30 degree F out side, it will read 50. Right now it's 32 outside and the thermometer is reading 42. I have had this product replace twice as well as recalibrating it on my own once. My $10 themometer from Home Depot is more accurate. Do not spend the over $70 - it is far from worth it!

This large dial thermometer is handsome and easy to read from a distance. I expect that it will provide a lifetime of service.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who likes American products. It used to be made in Vermont, now made in China. So you get to pay American made price for a Chinese import. Quality seems to be ok, but I did not get what I thought I was buying.

When installed in shade, as the instructions suggest, the thermometer is accurate and can be read from a long distance.

Good quality, easy to read, classic look, lifetime warranty. We enjoy and look at it everyday on the patio.(I'm a weather freak!) My friend from out-of-town complimented us on it, so I surprised her with one. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for, and in this case, it's worth every penny.

THIS IS A QUALITY THERMOMETER AND IDEAL FOR YOUR NICE HOME. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT A 5 STAR
BUT THE MOUNTING SCREWS NEED TO BE PHILLIPS HEAD WOOD SCREWS AS ONE OTHER REVIEWER STATED.
IT MUST ALSO BE CALIBRATED PRIOR TO INSTALLING OUTDOORS WHICH IS SIMPLE TO DO OR IT WILL
NOT GIVE AN ACCURATE READING. MINE WAS 10 DEGREES OFF BUT AFTER CALIBRATION PROVED TO BE ACCURATE.

THE QUALITY IS INDEED EXCELLENT AND IT LOOKS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL ON OUR FRONT PORCH AND EASY TO READ BECAUSE OF THE LARGE DIAL. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS ITEM, JUST REMEMBER TO DO THE CALIBRATION PRIOR TO MOUNTING. I USED 3 PHILLIPS HEAD WOOD SCREWS INSTEAD OF THE ONES PROVIDE AS SUGGESTED BY ANOTHER REVIEWER AND IT WAS EASY TO MOUNT. I HAVE NEVER SEEN AND OUTDOOR THERMOMETER AS NICE AS THIS ONE. BUY IT !

I had two problems, I ordered the brass finish and the one I received looks like copper. It doesn't look bad, just not what I expected. The other thing is they include period correct brass or copper slotted screws for mounting. Slotted screws are impossible to use with a power screwdriver and I finally gave up and used three philips head wood screws.

Otherwise it works great and I am happy with the thermometer.
