5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Fun, just wish it had an option for higher difficulty, December 25, 2011

I play mostly adventure/puzzle combination games, but there are some classic games which are a ton of fun, and "Concentration" by Mumbo Jumbo is one of them. This is a classic match game, and follows the TV show format.

Once the game is loaded, you do not need to insert the disc to play. You can choose two-player mode, and play against somebody, or one player mode, where you play against the computer, aka Professor Rebus. The highlight of each game is the rebus puzzles to solve when you've uncovered enough squares. There's 100 of them in this "Concentration" computer game. If, like me, you can't get enough of them, I can recommend a book called "Great Rebus Puzzles" by Steve Ryan.
Great Rebus Puzzles

In addition to chosing which mode in which you play, you also get to choose which of three difficulty levels you want. For most adults, you'll probably want the hardest level, and even that will be too easy once you've got the hang of it. That's because the hardest level grid is only 5 x 5. I would love to see this game reissued with a higher difficulty level, maybe 7 x 7 or up.

In the meantime, I use ways to make it more of a challenge. First off, each game has one really big prize, like a trip to Bora Bora. At the beginning of the game, they show you where one of the Bora Bora squares is. All I do is close my eyes or look away during the 5 seconds or so it shows the big prize location, so I don't have that advantage while playing the game.

Another way to make it more difficult for myself is to make it a rule that I cannot solve the rebus unless all matches are cleared off the board. If I mess up towards the end of the game, when there's only three or four matches left, Professor Rebus will make a match and solve the rebus to win. That is, just like if you were playing against another person, Professor Rebus does not wait for the board to be totally cleared before solving the puzzle and winning. So with my little rule, I have to be especially careful not to give the Professor that chance.

Though I wish it had a more difficult option available, this is still a great game for exercising the brain and having fun.

this is as much fun as the tv game show was. i love it! i think video game manufacturers should think about putting out more fun games like this instead of war, fighting, stupid sports and blood and guts crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not everyone likes that junk. and the kids that do should NOT be playing those kind of games. just because you put on it no one under the age if eighteen does NOT mean that the stupid parents don't buy it for their underage kids. you need to put out MORE of the type of GAME games like this one. this game makes you use memory and makes you think and figure out the puzzles underneath. this is the type of game for ALL ages. i'm almost 62. this type of game is the only games i play. all i can say is MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Concentration fans are happy that this classic game is now here for the PC! This game plays just like the most recent version of Concentration that aired in the 80s and 90s with Alex Trebek at the helm! The rebuses are challenging, and the prizes are cool, though you won't actually have them delivered to your home. Even the bonus game makes use of the car round!

A fun game to play in the 21st century!
