With a little research this headrest unit seems to be one of the best deals out there. As an Audio/Video afficionado, it is an attractive and tidy unit which comes with 3 different 'pleather' colors to match your interior. This is good because you can conceal it better from thieves. We got it for our 1 month old. Yes...he faces the rear & I was able to easily install it backwards (facing forward in the rear seat headrest holes. The included remote works well and has plenty of features...most importantly repeat. This allows the disc that is in to continuously play. It picks up right where it was when you turned off the ignition. So far little Henry has watched Baby Einstein's Poetry & Classical Music DVD about 20 times. Beware though, the onscreen lighting and action can be bothersome in your rearview mirror when travelling in the dark. You'll learn to ignore it. It is very easy to use and put the disc in & the remote is an added bonus. Installation can be a little tricky though, as the cables slide down through the headrest holes and into the interior of you seat. Our 2003 Pathfinder's seatback came off with a little enticing which allowed me to power it from the trunk plug. Most newer model autos have zipper / snap seatbacks which should allow relatively easy wiring. Note: Use electrical tape to secure ALL of the connections tight. The last thing you need in the middle of the interstate on that vacation trip is to have a wire jiggle loose! Take the time to install it securely. All in all it seems to be a great unit & I hope it lasts long enough so little Henry can drive & mom & dad can sit in the back & watch movies :o>

The Good:
easy installation; clean look; black matches easily; versital with dvd player in each unit & mutiple inputs for mini usb, auxilary jack and some other input I did not recognize. Also, if you install 2, there is a cord that can be untilized so both units operate either speerately or together. The bad: sound quality is horrible. the units connect to your exisitng speaker system via fm tuner & the sound is crackeled & muffled - sounds like an am station in my Dad'd old 1972 Ford F150. I programed the station as a favorite for easy access & if I change stations the volume was so loud vs. this tuner it almost blew the speakers out. Also, if you turn the car off with thre unit playing, then come back after say a gas station break, the sound is super loud static until someone turns the unit back on from the backseat. While each unit has its own small speaker, the sound is virtually non-existant. My only recommendation is that the kids bring headphones everytime they want to use these units.

The CLD-700 Headrest all-in-one DVD Player...
Rather than bore you with stories here's what I found: DVD/HEADREST UNIT: Packaged well and comes complete with everything you need to install the unit. The downfall is the instruction manual. Repetitive pages with almost no clear detailed installation help. Easy enough though for anyone who can connect a DVD player to a TV and has minor technical expertise. Unless you use the 12V lighter power connector you just need to find a 12V Hot (RED) and a Ground (Black) connection in your vehicle. The headrest posts adjust for any vehicle and comes with 3 different color leather-like covers. Tan, gray and black (already installed) All wires have one way connectors so you can't couple them wrong and thier color coded. The wires come out of the bottom of each tube/post so you'll need to disassemble your seat somewhat and feed the wires through and out the bottom. You can then run the wires forward under carpeting into a fuse box or other power source(for a cleaner look) or, use the supplied 12v cigarette lighter power plug and plug it into your dash or utility socket. The CLD-700 can be installed on the front car seats facing towards the rear or on the rear car seats facing towards the front. Perfect for toddlers who are still facing rear-ward. Just pick a spot and remove your existing headrest. The CLD-700 headrest also pivots up and down for the perfect angle. The DVD is inserted behind the flip up 7" screen using the oval release button at the bottom. Manual controls are clearly marked and easy to use. The unit also has a set of wires ready to connect a 2nd add-on unit/monitor (CLS-700) if you'd like to outfit another seat and a set of video game input connectors so your child can see the action on a bigger screen. I left both of these wire sets coiled up under the back seat and ready for the future during my install. A full function remote control is included. THE PICTURE: is sharp and clear. Whether you're watching a disney Pixar or a standard movie the quality here will not dissapoint. THE FM TRANSMITTER: The CLD-700 has a built in FM Audio Transmitter that works extremely well if you have a blank FM station in the lower FM band. I was delighted with the quality. The movie takes on that theater sound when it's coming from your car's audio system. Of course the unit has a built-in speaker if you don't have a blank FM station or you perfer to have the movie sound confined to one area in the vehicle. INSTALLATION TIME: For me it was about 75 minutes. That's because I'm a clean-look guy when it comes to my car. I fed wires through seats, tucked them under rugs and removed trim panels to hide the wires behind everthing. If you just want to feed the wires down through the seat and leave then laying all over and plug it in...figure about 30 minutes. OVERALL: The unit has a clean look, great picture and unless you're looking for it a would be thief would probably never see it. If you're concerned just throw a small towel over it and lock your car. 4 of 5 stars due to useless manual. The unit itself is a 5 all day long. Money well spent. - S
