THE BEST PREGNANCY GUIDE ON THE MARKET!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Conception Pregnancy & Birth (Hardcover)
After a depressing and guilt-ridden "What to Expect When You're Expecting", I felt so refreshed after reading this book. I'm a first time expectant mother, and I found this book to be so much more informative and appealing!! The colorful pictures and great medical advice along with the sections on breastfeeding and post-natal care were absolutely wonderful. I would definitely recommend this guide to any mom. Dr. Stoppard's opinions are much like my OB/GYN's and my husband has learned a lot as well. A definite MUST HAVE!!

Good general information, great picutres,

I purchased this book before my husband and I began trying to conceive. There is a lot of great information about conception and fertility/infertility, although it would be nice if the author would include a section on the Fertilty Awareness Method and how it can be used to understand your individual cycle and identify any possible fertility problems. The photographs are wonderful, and the general information for each of the trimesters is great. I have found that now that I am pregnant I turn to more detailed books each night. This book describes each four weeks of development in only two pages, most of which have pictures. As a result, the information tends to be a little general. This would be a good gift for a first-time expecting mom, and I found it very informative as my first book on pregnancy and childbirth, but I wouldn't depend on it as your only resource if you like to be well informed about all of the details.

Army Officer, Wife and Mother,

This is THE BEST PREGNANCY BOOK EVER!!! My time is severly limited, so bottomline directness is a necessity in my life - that's why this book was invaluable during my first pregnancy. I leant this book, and a few other books to a close friend during her pregnancy- guess which one was never returned. This book is a gem because it gives you a strong visual cue that you can identify with - It's comforting to see what you and your baby may look like during each month of pregnancy. The text writing is precise, with very appropriately sized, meaty chunks of information that seem to answer every question as they come to mind - it's wonderful! I love the set up of the book too, just reading Dr. Stoppard's book was like embarking on a journey, little treasures of pertinent information around every corner. I'm now expecting my second child and my first thought was -I need to order my Pregnancy Bible! (Dr. Stoppard's Conception, Pregnancy and Birth) With this book in hand, I'll feel informed, confident and prepared, just as I did through my first pregnancy.

I bought this book as a pre-conception guide. What a guide it is! This is the best book ever published and covers just what the title says: Conception,Pregnancy AND Birth. I recommend this to anyone that is thinking of becoming pregnant or who already is. The pictures alone are worth it! I like how it follows yourself and baby's growth from week to week. VERY INFORMATIVE! This book is a MUST HAVE!

My husband and I are just getting started in trying for our first child and I am the type that needs to know about everything in advance. I found this book to be extremely enjoyable to read as well as very informational. It touched on every topic I could imagine without being judgmental which was important for me. It also had sections I could read my husband that he actually sat and listened to. I would recommend this book for anyone who is curious about what to expect. I will read it again and refer to it often throughout pregnancy.

Great book, better than What to Expect when you're expecting,
By Robin Donahue (USA) - See all my reviews

I am in my third trimester and I have had this book since I was 4 weeks pregnant. I love this book, the illustrations are great, and the descriptions are not too clinical so you can understand what it is that they are talking to you about. Being able to see the baby every 4 weeks is so great, it allows you to feel connected at a very early stage. When reading this book you never feel like you have every bad symptom know to pregnancy like some other books make you feel. When reading this book you feel wonderfully happy and healthy! There are sections on problems with conception, pregnancy and birth, but it does not focus on it. It focus on healthy babies :) I also like the section on choosing a birth method; it informs you what the difference is between a home birth, water birth and a hospital birth. I feel that if you have any fears with your pregnancy, don't get "What to Expect When You're Expecting", get this book

Great book!,

My husband and I are trying to conceive and I bought this book earlier this week and just finished it. I have also read The Mother of All Pregnancy Books by Ann Douglas (really good resource for couples thinking about TTC), and Your Pregnancy: Every Woman's Guide by Glade Curtis (Eh. It was not so good). I found this book to be an enjoyable, easy read and very informative. I particularly found the photographs, illustrations, case studies and sidebars helpful. My husband hasn't read it yet, but I'm going to recommend it to him, as Dr. Stoddard (unlike many pregnancy authors) actually addresses concerns of personal interest to fathers-to-be. Some of the other reviews have mentioned that it doesn't go into sufficient detail on some subjects, and that's true, but no book can be everything, and I found that it covered enough so that if you need to know more about a particular subject or issue, this book gives you enough information to ask the right questions or find other resources.

Beautiful Illustrations and Incredibly Informative!,
By Allison Manning (Newnan, Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conception Pregnancy & Birth (Hardcover)
My husband and I are in the planning stages of pregnancy at this time and were looking for something that covered all the bases from conception through the first few weeks of life. This book provides all of this and more! However, the real-life illustrations are the most outstanding part. What a wonderful portrayal of the miracle of life! In addition, as a nurse, I found the information to be things I already knew but enjoyed reading anyway!

If you're pregnant now or thingking of becoming pregnant, this book will be your bible for the next year. My husband bought this for me in the first trimester of my pregnancy and of all the gifts that his ever given it still remains by far the best. So much of pregnancy is scary and confusing Dr. Stoppard gives you the facts as well as comforting reassurance. Questions you don't even know you are going to have will be answered here. I recommend this book to anyone who is in the process of conception , pregnancy or birth. I've already given it to two friends
