If you're like me, you like your hot dogs best when they're grilled, and this makes the best indoor-cooked hot dogs I've ever tasted and fairly fast, too. 3.0 out of 5 stars Only for hot dog lovers
This thing works great cooking-wise, but can be a real space hog if you don't eat many franks. More of a gift for those who have everything.

If you're like me, you like your hot dogs best when they're grilled, and this makes the best indoor-cooked hot dogs I've ever tasted and fairly fast, too. It's basically a large size toaster, with heating elements (like a toaster's) in the middle, and a metal basket that holds 2 hot dogs inbetween the heating elements. The metal plates that the heating elements are attached to in the center don't completely extend the width of the toaster so that heat can leak around them to toast the buns. The outer sides of the bun don't toast, which is how I prefer it.

While overall I love this product, there is room for improvement. It's true they cook a little unevenly, so for more even cooking, I flip the hot dogs halfway through the cooking. The manufacturer does say not to use bun-length or fat hot dogs, but since I prefer bun-length I went ahead broke that rule, and they came out great. I don't think I'd use it for fat hot dogs though. Secondly, the buns stick out a little so I also flip them partway through the cooking process, and since I don't like them quite as toasted I wait to add them when I'm flipping the hot dogs. The other problem is getting the hot dogs out of the basket, which is too hot to touch once they've finished cooking. They should include a nylon prong or tongs (maybe with a hot dog shaped handle?) to make it easier to extract the cooked hot dogs from that hot basket. Once they've cooled, it's a snap to clean the basket and removable drip tray.

I'd have given this item 5 stars if they made it so that the buns fit, you could definitely use bun-length dogs, and it came with a nylon prong or tongs for extracting cooked hot dogs. But while there is room for improvement and you may have to take a few extra steps to make hot dogs & buns cook evenly, I still recommend this product for great indoor hot dogs, I love it.

My husband kept seeing this item in the skymall magazine (that catalog in the seat pocket of every airplane in the USA)everytime we flew somewhere. He kept saying, "I'm going to get myself one of those someday." So for his birthday, I got him the Hot Diggity Dogger as his gift. You would think he won the hot dog lottery. He was very excited and it doesn't disappoint. This thing is great. The hot dogs come out grilled to perfection and the smell while they cook makes you salivate. The buns are perfect too. Toasted to hold all the toppings you want without getting soggy. There is a "done-ness" setting for the hot dogs and I turn it all the way up for mine because I like a little bit of char on my hot dog. Just like girl scouts with a hot dog on a stick. Mmmmmm.

I recieved a Hot Diggity Dogger as a birthday present, intended more as a gag gift, but this has rapidly become one of my most prized posessions. Not only is it a great conversation piece, it cooks the absolute best hot dogs I've ever had outside of at baseball games. This is a MUST for anyone who eats hot dogs.

You have to use a very thin hot dog because it expands and then becomes difficult to pull out of the machine. Overall, the Hot Diggity Dogger is a fun cooking machine to use.

Love the way it does the dogs but not so good on the buns. The buns get warm but not toasted brown.

This has to be a hot dog connoisseurs dream come true-no more grills at midnight. I know of 5 other professionals that feel the same way. Portable enough to take on the road and can satisfy the most demanding user. I've had one since June and use it contantly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Dog, it's Hot Diggity Dog!, November 10, 2005
This review is from: Concepts Electronix Hot Diggity Dogger (Kitchen)
Finally, space age technology comes to the field of dogging. The only complaint I have about it (and it really isn't a complaint) is that it would be nice to have a small cutting mechanism on it to open the hot dog package. If it had that, then the HDD would be the only thing I owned in my "kitchen".

I appreciate the vertical grilling technique, since this drains the unhealthy parts of the dog, and I am watching my weight. There should be a diet dog.

Don't use those stuffed cheese dogs by the way, they leak and it's hard to clean the cheese out of the tray. I don't know how I'm gonna get the cheese out of mine.

Love the dogs, love the product, thanks Hot Diggity Dog!
