This is one of Calvin's most important works on the central topic of predestination, which has been translated and introduced by J. K. S. Reid. This treatise is the longest and most sustained exposition which Calvin wrote on the subject that epitomises his theological approach. It supplies more than a bare statement about a God who, for his glory, apportions equally the lot of both the redeemed and the rejected; at a more profound level it also sets forth the theory of a God of grace. Professor J. K. S. Reid's widely praised translation has been used as a model for other translations of Reformation texts. It is now available for the first time in paperback.
