Another rarity from the original Columbia catalogue -- of which, Sony has barely bothered to properly re-issue on disc -- this mid-1960s recording is a carefully edited production where cheering from one song carefully fades into the start of the next. In other words, you'll hear almost none of the band's classic, entertaining between-song banter. That said, when it comes to talented, joyous, energetic performances of first-rate Irish nuggets, this ranks right up there with the superlative 1984 Reunion album and the 1964 In Person At Carnegie Hall recording. Another necessity for any serious Irish folk collector.

When this album was first released in the 60's on vinyl, I thought it one of their lesser efforts, especially for a live performance. It sounds more like a studio perfomrance with applause added in, for there is none of their repartee with the audince included.

Still, since Sony has not found it fit to release the vbest of their original albums on CD, this is still a very worthy alternative!

I do like songs such as Red Haired Mary and The Winds of Morning. William Bloat is a very funny satire set to the tune of Raglan Road...

A very good, but not great, part of the Clancy Brothers library.

I always have had mixed emotions about this one. When it first came out in the 60's I thought it was a very short album and the selections were very uneven. William Bloat (a fantastic song),
Red haired Mary and the March medley were great. I notice that the march medley has been on a couple of different CD reissues - but never William Bloat. The Cockies of Bungaree and Mick McGuire must be an acquired taste.
