"Concert for Diana" was done not only for the thousands of people who saw the show, but to give us all something to smile about as the 10th anniversary of Diana's death came upon us. Her sons did an absolutely marvelous job of combining old with new when it came to the music, and still managed to get the message out as to how special a person Diana truly was.

This dvd will always hold a special place for me as it showed just how much people still cared about the late Princess. And - knowing that nearly all the monies from the concert went to charities that her boys chose would have made Diana smile.

Relive the day we celebrated Diana's birthday!! The music is great and its well worth the price!

This was a historic concert that was seen all over the world - mostly on cable. It's great to have it on DVD with the search function and even option to create a playlist. And, of course, there are the loving short documentaries between the acts. I missed it on TV and was anxious to see the DVd - especially since there are some British performers who are not as well known in the US.

Sadly, however, this important occasion is ruined by the Direct or the event. There is not ONE camera shot which lasts more than four seconds! (Doubt me? Watch and count ... "one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand.....). Okay maybe in fast rock song but the same holds true, not only in the slow ballads but in the Swan Lake ballet! Yes, four second cutaways! I was getting a headache watching it and wondered why!

Yes, you should probably by this for the music - and the tributes (where, thankfully they don't use fast cuts as often... obviously a different director). Look at Live Aid, Live 8 or even the Pop Concert for the Queen (a great DVD on Naxos). None have these quick cuts, which are jarring.

I'll let the music stand for itself and the performances and breadth of the music rate five stars. But I had to deduct two stars for the choppiness of the production.

"Anything Phonographic"

I watched parts of the concert on NBC and VH1 last July and saw plenty of music I liked and remembered- some of the newer, unfamiliar, stuff was pretty good too. I especially liked the video bits, shown between performances, of people who had known the Princess- those were often very interesting.

This is a 2 DVD set that has everything broadcast during the concert (and I think more)-it's nicely packaged and set up (you have the option of either listening to it all straight or picking your own mix of singers) shouldn't be too bad (although I just skipped around using the "next" on my remote). The images are very clear and the sound is good but subtitling is provided only for the speaking bits, not the songs themselves (so if you want to sing along or just don't know the lyrics you're out of luck). I remembered seeing the old home movies of Diana at the end- they're here too.

There's so much here, so many singers and songs, videos for the Diana fans- this DVD set would be well worth owning for just about anyone, it would even make a good gift- for the same reasons.

I had bought this as a gift....I already had received one, and it is a super concert! It opens with a welcome from princes William and Harry,and then follows with some awesome acts like Duran Duran,Fergie,Nelly Furtado, Rod Stewart,Tom Jones, and Joss Stone, to name a few! It also include touching tributes from folks who Diana had touched over the years,prior to her tragic passing. The tributes alone are really fantastic to see...you may shed a tear or two,and to top that with superb artists, well, you can't go wrong!Truly, a must for fans of Diana!

I saw the concert on tv, really wonderful. Had to get a copy. The show is so diverse, there really has to be something for everybody.

I would rather if there were no fast interviews in the middle of the concert, but it is good anyway. Lots of great singers.

I own more than 40 music titles in blu. This is one of the top 5 for me. Very enjoyable and entertaining. There are so many stars in the concert: Duran Duran, Rod Stewart, Fergie, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman, Elton John, Tom Jones, Donny Osmond, Jason Donovan, etc. A pleasant surprise is Roger Hodgson, who was a member of Supertramp and sings Dreamer, The Logical Song, Breakfast In America and Give A Little Bit. Another enjoyment is Take That, whom I found in this blu-ray is a great boy group with great songs. I know this will be my all time favorite. What a great show!

I have always admired Princess Diana and I loved this concert. It truly showed her as a real person and how much she was admired. It also showed how real she really was. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who admired her and supports her legacy.
