The best of the Russian Bards, April 1, 2000

If you've never heard any of the Russian bards, this is the place to start! This singer/songwriter combines folksy guitar accompaniment with witty and honest lyrics. Even if you don't speak Russian, his unusual voice and dramatic delivery are always interesting. If you don't know anything about Russian culture and language, you will find this to be a new sound, but it shows off the beauty of Russian language and spirit. If you do speak Russian, this is a must. The lyrics of Vysotsky's songs are brilliant and the introductions that he gives on this album are interesting and droll. Give it a listen!
