Amazing, underrated,

If you're a fan of chick corea, jazz, or just good music, you must listen to this album. This recording is surely one of his best. The rapport between these two groundbreaking musicians is at all times apparent.

Great memories come to life,

I heard this record (LP) in the early eighties at a friend's house. I loved the music, but could not afford to buy it (student); I copied it to a music cassette, but lost it. Putting on the CD brought instant recognition (at my age!) and brought back sweet memories. I was very surprised to hear that my 17 year old son knew this music - there is still hope!
Great music by great musicians without any reservations. (I do have reservations for their concert on the North Sea Jazz Festival 2007 - can't wait) Sorry to miss two tracks, still a great record.

Chick and Gary in the peak of their musical powers!,

This is a legendary recital in which we find the egregious combined talent of two first rate musicians giving the best of them.
The portentous creativity of Corea, his impressive phrasing and the formidable Burton `s musicianship, are carved in relief all along this Concert. Their enraptured homage in Bud Powell `s memory, the magnetic charm of Senor Mouse, the introspective work Crystal silence, the engaging mood of Tweak, the magnetic Falling grace, the suggestive Mirror, mirror, the lyrical Song to Gayle and the spelling Flamenco airs of Endless trouble, endless pleasure make of this album a fundamental and future piece of your personal collection.

Where the heck is Side 3???,
By
This review is from: In Concert Zurich (Audio CD)
I bought the original LP double album a very long time ago, and was thinking of upgrading to a CD. Then I see the track list...ECM decided to lop off the tunes from Side 3, Gary Burton's solo "I'm Your Pal / Hullo, Bolinas" and Chick Corea's solo of "Love Castle".
My rating is three stars, calculated as: one star for ECM, for not making this a two CD set, but five stars for the music that's there. |
