LIVING ROOM OPERA MADE ENJOYABLE, May 15, 1999

This review is from: Concerto Italiano [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a great video from our friends in Canada from 1965.Okay, once you get past the host, one of the most boring people on the face of the planet, you will have GREAT music for a lifetime.Starts with Tebaldi's "O mio babbino caro", at the right speed. Other copies of this has it rushed.Highlights are: Quilico's Nulla!Silenzio. . ., never more dramamatically performed, on stage, screen or records. You have to see this to believe it. My hair was standing on end at the conclusion. Wonderful!!!The other highlight is a dramatic account of the second act of "Tosca", made just for your TV screen, it doesn't miss a detail, from Tebaldi's beauty, to the incredible singing (Tebaldi never had trouble with Tosca, even in later years, it was HER role.)This video doesn't come at you from all sides, so it quite enjoyable in a family or relaxed setting. Highly recommended.
