This review is from: Concerts for the People of Kampuchea (Audio Cassette)
This is the cassette version of the double LP live album of the 1981 concert. It has not been re released on any other format since such as CD. So these are the only two ways you will find them other than perhaps an MP3 download. If you get the cassette you will be missing the album cover art, so in most cases I would recommend buying the LP. However I got this which was in like new shape to easily convert to digital format rather than using my LP's.This is a wonderful album with some great live performances from some very famous to not so famous bands. Side One: THE WHO- Baba O Riley/Sister Disco/Behind Blue Eyes/See Me Feel Me. THE PRETENDERS- The Wait/Precious/Tattooed Love Boys. ELVIS COSTELLO & THE ATTRACTIONS- The Imposter. ROCKPILE- Crawling from the wreckage. ROCKPILE W/ROBERT PLANT- Little Sister. Side Two: QUEEN- Now I'm Here THE CLASH- Armagideon Time IAN DURY & THE BLOCKHEADS- Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick THE SPECIALS- Monkey Man PAUL McCARTNEY AND WINGS- Got To Get You In To My Life/ Every Night/Coming Up. ROCKESTRA- Lucille/Let It Be/ Rockestra Theme. (Rockestra consists of John Bohnam, Billy Bremmer, Gary Brooker, Howies Casey, Tony Dorsey, Dave Edmunds, Steve Holly, James Honeyman-Scott, Steve Howard, Kenny Jones, John Paul Jones, Laurence Juber, Denny Laine, Ronnie Laine, Linda McCarntney, Paul McCarntey, Robert Plant, Thadeus Richard, Bruce Thomas, Pete Townshend) How is that for a line up for a band? This was one of the first Live Benefit concerts and for a very good cause. The only thing I find surprising it that this was never released again after the first one in 1981. Perhaps someday. The only thing I would hope is that there would be even more content on another release. If one likes these bands then they will really like this recording as it is live and very good. There are other in depth reviews if one looks at the LP version. I would highly recommend this, has been one of my favorite albums since first purchasing it new in 1981. |
