3.0 out of 5 stars LACKING SONGS, August 29, 2002
By
ERNIE GARCIA (LONG BEACH, CA.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Conchetta (Audio CD)
I REALLY LIKE CONNIE STEVEN'S VOICE. IT IS SOFT, YET ENERGETIC.LIKE I SAID ABOUT ANNETTE FUNICELLO'S C.D.'S, HERS ARE ALSO LACKING HER MOST FAMOUS SONGS. COME ON WARNER BROS OR WHOEVER HAS THE RIGHTS TO HER SONGS..THIS IS THE GAL WHO HAD SUCH HITS AS "SIXTEEN REASONS", "MR. SONGWRITER", "LOST IN WONDERLAND"AND "WHY'D YOU WANNA MAKE ME CRY FOR".I HAD TO PAY BIG BUCKS FOR A JAPANESE IMPORT RECORD VINYL LP JUST SO I COULD HAVE THESE SONGS.I MEAN WHAT'S WRONG WITH OUR COUNTRY THAT WE HAVE TO PAY FOREIGN COUNTRIES BIG MONEY FOR OUR MUSIC. I MUST ADMIT THAT THEY DID DO AN EXCELLENT JOB QUALITY-WISE. IT'S TIME THAT CONNIE'S BIG HITS MADE IT TO C.D. SHALL WE WORK AS A TEAM AND WRITE TO WARNER BROTHERS RECORDS OR PERHAPS THEY CAN TELL US WHO HAS THESE MASTERS AND THE RIGHTS!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Connie Steven's best., June 26, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Conchetta (Audio CD)
Connie Stevens' voice conveys such a sense of joy, energy, and assessibility, that a person would have to be comatose not to be charmed by her. That's why I have to regret saying this album is not all that I hoped it would be. There are three or four standards that are enjoyable. But there are too many dated arrangements to make this album one that I could heartilty recommend. If I had to choose her best CD, it would be the one entitled "From Me to You."

5.0 out of 5 stars Voice of an angel, November 19, 2001
This review is from: Conchetta (Audio CD)
Connie Stevens was a film actress. Few people knows she was also a singer. This album shows Connie on jazz standards, singing with a voice that reminds of the gorgeous Beverly Kenney and Joanie Sommers. Don`t you believe? Buy the disc. It's delicious!
Her baby-voiced performances are a pearl lost in American records from the fifties. Rock`n`roll and British sounds silent her. Now, in laser era, we can hear her again and know how she was better than almost the female singers from those years.
By the way, where is she now?
